Yeah, it makes no sense. Adding filler is one thing, because they want to fill up the episode quota. But in that case what's the point of cutting scenes? Baffling.

Episode:

What the hell?

This new Basara is so weird, and her voice is so annoying. Also, she has a random music number in the middle of the episode. It was absurd.

Mayura is still useless.

I wonder what's the deal with Sae, they are setting something up, but I'm not sure what.

Resonance is so op.

Oh, a road trip. This might actually be an interesting filler for a change.

I figured Sae is actually the prophesied Miko.

Yeah not a fan of the new Basara. She'll do fine for a sub-boss I guess.

That would be a very weird development. Also would mean they are going into full anime original territory.

It'll be nice to see Benio and Rokuro in a serious fight post timeskip. Also, this road trip better have some lovey dovey moments. tongue

Episode 23:

This must be the first time that stupid familiar is useful.

Family road-trip, how nice. waii

Ohagi man is the hero to us all.

That's an unnecessary bit of conflict that goes nowhere.

Lady, if they had kid already, that would be Miko, and you would hear about it.

Is being an exorcist make people stop aging? She doesn't look at more than her 20s.

This arc, sure likes throwing Basara at them. At least they are treated as the overwhelming threat they are.

When I saw them going with that squad I had a feeling they would need to babysit them... lo and behold that's exactly what happens.

Yes Benio learned how hard it is to be a mother. but at least Sae is a good child who shares her love for Ohagi.

I still have no idea where this arc is going.

Fighting Basara is the best way for the Twin Stars to level grind.

Yeah, surprising that the familiar was useful. Since he's anime-original I wonder how they did the road trip in the manga.

Also, another suggestion that Sae is the Miko.

Road trip is anime original too.

Episode 24:

This episode was emotionally intense. I didn't expect to feel sympathy for a Kegare of all things, and yet, here we are. Leo-san didn't want to eat humans, he just wanted to see something beautiful. I knew how it will end from the start, but it was still so sad. At least he got his wish and went back happy.

Poor Sae though. Seems she realized the truth.

Those are some annoying Guardians. Like, seriously fuck off.

Painting the war against Kegare in a morally greyer light was a good step, but I found the episode too transparent in that regard. Didn't really care.

Episode 25:

The toure de force of Basara and Exorcists continues, this time with baseball!

Benio and Saya went on Youtube binge. I know that feeling when you end up on a video completely unrelated to the previous on.

Seriously Mayura, it's none of your businesses what those two are doing.

Inconvincible! Cordelia is some kind of a robot? How else would she talk like that?

Funny thing, for all the Basara they met this arc, the Twin Stars haven't defeated even one. They usually just leave. But it looks like next episode we might get some serious battle. Also some plot.

Another day, another Basara. Though this week's pair of Guardians are nice, if stereotypical. Though robot girl feels out of place.

The Guardians are a bunch of weirdos, aren't they?

fillerdude Since: Jul, 2010
#113: Sep 30th 2016 at 6:08:53 AM

And not the interesting kind of weirdo. The kind that tries to make up for lack of personality with wackiness.

I dunno, I like Subaru for example. Most of them show up for an episode at most so they have no time to even establish character beyond wackiness.

Episode 26:

This arc really is overusing both the Basara and the Guardians. They don't have to show up every episode, geez. Especially since half of the time it's only a glorified cameo.

Also, they a retreading old ground while acting like they are doing something new. They learned to work together with no signs back during the Subaru training.

And then they win by... hitting them harder. that always works, I suppose.

Sae has special powers, but everyone predicted that already. Sigh, when she says she wants to stay with them... this arc is going to end up in tragedy, won't it?

Onward to Kyoto!

Next episode is about Mayura, that sounds boring.

Episode 23:

New OP, unfortunately, nowhere as good as the previous one.

So yeah, Mayura episode, she wants to be stronger, standard stuff.

Shinon was cool.

Episode 28:

So there's apparently this magic tree and the problems with it are causing Dragon Spots to appear.

The best part of the episode is the baths. Benio making a pun and arguing over nutrition with Rokuro, they are really a family.

The fight goes pretty much like al fight go this arc. The Twin Stars are overmatched, Sae does something weird and then a Guardian shows up to steal the show. At least this time we get a hint as to Sae nature, and Tenma, who is the strongest of the Guardians really lives up to his name, cutting through mountains and closing that giant Dragon Spot with no talisman.

They will probably get to Kyoto next episode, so we might finally get some answers.

Episode 29:

So yeah Sae was born from a branch of the magic tree that keeps the barrier between the worlds, and she must go back if the barrier is to be repaired.

I saw it coming but still, what a brutal twist! This will be such a blow to the twin stars. Sae is so adorable, I don't want her to disappear with this arc, I want her to stay!

Episode:

So, the arc ended, and the thing that we all knew would happen happened. Holy shit, that was sad.

This arc has been such a Shaggy Dog Story. It main purpose seems to be to kick the viewers in the gut. That's just mean.

Episode:

We get a flashback heavy episode told from Kinako perspective, and to my infinite surprise it works out quite well. It was nice to see a bit more of Benio's past.

I also liked that they didn't skip over Sae's disappearance, and dealt with the grief. Good call.

About the revelation at the end of the episode.. that guy is so a villain. Seriously.

Episode 32: What a ride.

So yeah, it starts as a recap episode, then we get the twin stars worrying about what can they do, then we find out Rokuro origin, then Suzu, the philosophical idol Basara shows up, and then they... dance? This episode was all over the place but it was nice in emotional sense. Also the dancing scene was great, despite being kind of wtf moment.

Episode 33:

It starting to feel less like a filler arc, and more just anime taking a completely different direction. Might be a wise decision given how quickly they would have caught up.

Oh, and it's becoming more and more a Twelve Guardians Show, guest starring the Twin Star Exorcists.

Oh yeah, it did.

I put manga on hold until I hear some things got resolved, since it'll be easier to read it in one sitting.

Episode 34:

Twelve Guardian Adventures continue. Starring the most annoying duo of the Guardians. At the end of the fight I just felt sorry for the Basara, especially since she got such a sad scene.

Oh yeah, Twin Star Exorcists are in this series... and once again they just talk about how weak they are. At least in the manga they visibly improved over the timeskip.

That shadow... no, not this asshole.
