I agree that the RPGs are a nice break from the typical Mario story, but I also don't really mind the typical Mario story all that much. Saying that Bowser should stop kidnapping Peach is like saying that Popeye should stop courting Olive Oyl or that Wile E. Coyote should stop chasing the Roadrunner—the fun of this particular property lies in all the different permutations of its single premise.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?I believe I said this before, but here's my Dream Paper Mario game, with elements from all games:
- 64's level design
- 1KYD's Gameplay
- Super's Story
- Sticker Star's Museum (Reading the museum descriptions of items was one of the better parts of the game)
- Color Splash's Comedy

An all new Paper Mario adventure coming in...just 2 months?!
Small look at the battle system.
Thank goodness it's using a more traditional Combat system, plus the reorganizing the battlefield mechanic looks very interesting. A shame there's no partners from the looks of it, but at least it's not using stickers to fight.
It comes out 2 days before my birthday! IT WAS MEANT TO BE <3
Also ORIGAMI BOWSER

The Protomen enhanced my life.High hopes. High fear.
At least Bowser Jr. is in it.
So what will the story or lack thereof be like?
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."It's in the trailer
Basically, Bowser's going to be your ally this time. Peach got kidnapped by an origami guy and was converted into origami. So all of your enemies are origami and all of your allies are paper.
It's been 3000 years…I will give them this, that scene of Origami Peach was surprisingly unsettling.
eShop dataminers have found the game has been done for two weeks and it's file size is 6.78 GB.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Dataminers nothing this thing is already available for pre-load.
What's the turnaround time for making a Paper Mario game? Jeez. Intelligent Systems knocks out a big game a year.
Usually four years, barring Thousand Year Door to Super (three years) and Super to Sticker Star (five years).
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Actually Fire Emblem: Three Houses was done almost completely by Koei Tecmo, with just a handful of Intelligent Systems employees in various supervising positions, leaving everyone to wonder what exactly the rest of the company's been working on these last few years.

There seems to be a limit on the number of times you can rotate the enemies. Guess that's one part of the combat system that's new.
nevermind

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Man, Intelligent Systems REALLY amped up their papercraft style for this game. Color Splash was already a good looking game, but Origami King's style is downright GEORGEOUS. That papercraft wheat field, those mountains, the boulder, those clouds...
They did one of the Dissidia games and the two Nintendo Warriors games, so at least Cloud, the Zelda reps, and all the Fire Emblem reps count too.
It's been 3000 years…Still pessimistic. I've been lacking motivation to play games, I have a backlog, and it doesn't look traditional enough.
At the very least, it looks better then Sticker Star, but I'm holding off until we hear more about it
Silence is golden, noise is platinum. Keelah se'laiI hope we get some Odyssey stuff in this game, because at the moment it is looking like just generic 2D Mario garbage.
Looks like Nintendo may just have been trying (and failing) to keep in-battle partners secret.

Right. Well, that just means Seven Stars is just that much better in comparison. Yes. That is what I will take from this exchange.
