The Date: October 31st, 2016

The Place: Helena Troy's Estate

The Time: 9:00 PM

"Heellllooo there, people! This is everyone's favorite 666FAIL DJ Funky Frank reporting to you LIVE from the estate of Helena Troy! I gotta' tell ya', it's a beautiful night! We've got a full moon out tonight, so you'd best be beware of any werewolves out, man! But yeah, it's a perfect for a Halloween bashout, and we're just so lucky that the lovely Helena Troy agreed to host it! For those of you who've been sleeping under a gravestone for the last several years, Helena Troy is the latest heiress to the Troy family lineage, rumored to go back all the way to the times of Ancient Greece! But in the here and now, Ms.Troy hasn't let herself just rest on her laurels, no; she's invested in all sorts of technology firms and discoveries that are sure to change the way our country thinks about... (Shit, give me a minute; spilled coffee on the fucking script. Is this thing on?)'

'Sorry about that, dear listeners! In any case, Troy is dedicated to using her wealth to make our country's troubles a thing of the past, and to prove that she truly cares about everyone in the good ol' U.S of A, she's agreed to host this wonderful little get-together, complete with an open invitation! Already, all sorts of ghosts and ghouls are prowling the estate, along with all manner of amazing costumes! In fact, I think I see... (Is that a giant dildo? What the hell is someone doing dressed up as a giant dildo? My daughter's listening to this; I won't have listening to something that has a giant fucking dildo-)-'

'Uh, hi. This is, um, Funky Frank's assistant, Normal Normie. Please stand by for technical difficulties..."

On the other side of the street across from the estate, a black van stood, it's dim headlights almost staring blankly into the pale moonlight. A man the equivalent of a large Norwegian bear sat in the van, staring at the estate through dark windows, his hand near a radio transceiver and ready to press it any moment.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

The man picked up the receiver without a moment's hesitation. "Mjolnir here. Yes, everything is proceeding as planned. Your armaments have been quite a success. They were undetectable by the scanners at... Yes, I know; you don't have to remind me. I'm not one to let something like that slip, unlike certain forefathers of mine. ...I know. The world may have forgotten us, but we will make them remember. Mjolnir out."

'Mjolnir', as he called himself, shut off the transceiver, and grasped a large sturdy hammer sitting next to him. It may not have been his first choice, but it would have to do. As would his current assignment. As much as he would prefer to be in there with his men, it was not his to question. He dug out a couple of old dogtags from his pockets and took a long hard look at them, wondering why he just hadn't tossed them aside. And as always, he came to the same conclusion; he couldn't forget. And he wouldn't let the world forget.

He would make them remember.

Tahlia was listening to the radio when she heard about the bash.

"Should I go Hewie? I shouldn't."

Hewie whined and tilted his head.

"You're right, I won't. It's not really my scene anyway. Hey! Want to go for a quick walk before bed?"

Hewie jumped up and grabbed his leash. "Good boy." Tahlia put on sunglasses and grabbed her phone, and left the house.

Helena Troy's estate, 9:03 PM

Two individuals arrived at Helena Troy's party. One was a young man dressed in black-and-red, with slicked back hair and a jagged-looking cape. However, closer inspection revealed that the young man was clearly wearing a somewhat cheap vampire Halloween costume. He had even neglected to put in the fangs. The other was a younger girl, a young teenager barely 14, her hair decorated with a couple of seashells. She wore a green tube top that revealed her midriff, and silvery-blue trousers with scale imprints on them, as well as flat, flipper-like shoes.

"C'mon, Gregorio, we're almost late!" the girl exclaimed, starting to run towards the doors. Gregorio grabbed her wrist before she got too far.

"No, Suzie, we're perfectly on time. Guests are gonna be arriving for the next half hour or so, I'd wager. Besides, I don't want you to get lost. Remember what happened on the beach the other day?" Gregorio asked her. "We're sticking together for now." Suzie looked disappointed.

"Fine," Suzie mumbled, looking upset. Gregorio let go of her wrist and she crossed her arms crossly. As they walked up to the giant doors, Suzie took another look at Gregorio. "So how'd you hear about this party?" she asked him. Gregorio shrugged.

"A bunch of guys at the college were talking about it. They said it was the biggest Halloween bash around and that everyone who's anyone would be here," he explained. Suzie simply shrugged, then swiftly skipped up the steps to the spooky soiree. Gregorio nervously trudged after her.

Pyrrhos, listening to the radio heard everyone was going to some sort of costume party and that it was supposed to be "frightening". He would show them fear, he wouldn't wear some stupid plastic costume either. He wore his black clothes and wrappings as he usually did, and started to head off to the house.

Tahlia started to head towards the house, still with sunglasses.

Violet was grumbling to herself as she turned the corner and approached the entry to the estate. Dressed up like a baseball player in a San Francisco Giants uniform, she adjusted her cap and a silver pair of Ray Bans as she approached. A bat tote bag rested along her back, allowing her to keep her trusty bat close at hand without raising suspicion, instead of having to leave it in the car. Likewise, she had her chain out of sight in there, one of the links slightly poking through the fabric.

A part of her had felt like cursing out whatever moron decided to take up some of the primo spots out front by parking his giant Goddamn van on the street right across from the estate, since it meant she had to circle around a couple of times before getting a spot even remotely close. She would have just called the whole stupid thing a bust and gone home, but considering the strange things that had happened over the past few days, she had a strong feeling that she'd want to check out Miss Troy's estate.

Maria Geriro
Descendant of Mars
Home 9 AM -> Streets Outside Helena Troy 9 PM

She just stared onwards, not focusing on any particular thing except panting. She was wrapped up in her thoughts. Which was, to say the least, in disbelief. It was a while ago, maybe a few minutes in fact. She just finished eating breakfast and just watched her father leave for work, when suddenly memories—well...they weren't memories really... It was more like an epiphany. And that epiphany was the oddest and most unbelievable one she's ever had in her life.

She was the descendant of Mars.

To say she was shocked was a bit of an understatement. It didn't make any sense. Why in the world did she know now? And how? If that was so, how come her parents didn't tell her? Or maybe they didn't know either. She wouldn't really have believed it but...

She glanced at the doorframe, now looking as if someone had hastily tried to return it...after bending the steel.

...she wasn't able to bend steel before. That was the thing that set her off. It meant that it was true. But it also worried her. She was the descendant of a war god and she didn't like the thought. The only bright side was that he was a protector as well as a god of agriculture.

But...what was she going to do now?

... She mulled over this for a few minutes. Then she looked back at the doorframe she ruined. She decided she'll have to find out what else she can do. She didn't want to accidently hurt anyone. So she stood up and readied herself to go outside, getting her jacket and phone. She locked the door to her house, bringing the keys and left on her bike, but not before sending a text to her father.

Going to do some research today. Might come back late today.

It was half true, she was researching her capabilities.

...

She gave a tired sigh as she walked with her bike at her side. Well, so far, all she found out was she was strong, and not much else. Though she could've sworn she wasn't able to use a stick of all things to hit a fly before. It was an accident and mostly on reflex. She figured she might have to try weapons next.

She was so wrapped up in her thoughts that she bumped into someone.

"Hey! Watch where you're going!" he said before continuing his course.

She blinked. He was wearing a costume, and heading towards this large estate, along with many others. Oh, it was a Halloween party. And a large one at that... What was the name of this place? She neared the gate to see. They usually have them on a plaque at the gate. She read it and it said Helena Troy's estate. Wait...

Helena Troy...

Helen of Troy...

She stared at it. ...She didn't think of it until now, but what if there were others like her? Others descended from gods and goddesses? ...and what would they do with their powers? She bit her lips and looked at the building. She thought about this. She'd get in. But what was she going to do about a costume? ...She was going to have be creative...

Troy Estate, 9PM

Akio sighed as he approached the entrance of the Troy Estate. Truth be told, he'd rather be spending time figuring out his new memories and abilities, but his friends had somehow roped him into agreeing to attend. The Japanese teen forewent a halloween costume, and was dressed in a comfortable long-sleeved shirt, jacket and jeans combo.

Catching sight of the estate name, Akio let out another sigh. "Helen of Troy...kore wa meiwakudesu (troublesome)." He muttered under his breath as he continued into the estate. "Way too similar to be a coincidence."

As Pyrrhos approached the house, it appeared some other people thought that wearing a costume was ridiculous, and walked far behind them. He saw the house in all its glory, and ahead of him some shady black van.

He walked closer to it, and peeked through the back window and saw some giant man with a hammer. Knowing this is probably not a good person(not that he cares), he came around side and looked through the passengers window for a better look.

Tahlia stood in front of the estate, holding Hewie, watching as people passed by. There was a van there, weirdly, blocking a far bit of the entrance. Suddenly Hewie began to pull, barking and making a ruckus.

"Hey, calm down boy, calm down-

Whoa"

All of a sudden, Hewie was streaking towards the van, having pulled himself free of Tahlia's grasp.

Before he got a good look, some dog started to race towards the van that Pyrrhos was looking into. He smiled, turned towards it, and readied his leg for a kick.

Tahlia was so furious at this guy being about to kick her dog that she forgot about her powers.

"DON'T YOU DARE KICK HEWIE!"

However, Hewie was quite capable of taking care of himself, and turned to bite the leg that was about to kick him.

The guy in question was tall, wrapped in black, and probably about to go to the party. Also, he had black eyes, same as Tahlia. There was also something generally off-putting about him. His eyes were cold, and his presence made the hair stand up on the back of her neck.

Suzie stepped into the mansion first of the two, eyes wide and smiling as she looked around at all the others in costume. "This place is great! I see what you were talking about, big brother!" Suzie exclaimed excitedly, trying to see if there was anyone in a really interesting costume. Suzie immediately ran up to a girl in a baseball uniform. Gregorio rushed after her before she got in trouble.

"Nice outfit!" Suzie exclaimed to the girl cheerfully. Gregorio stepped beside his sister.

"Uh, please forgive my sister. She's a bit... excitable," he muttered sheepishly, hoping the girl (who didn't look too happy to be there anyway) wasn't upset at Suzie for annoying her.

Instead of normally screaming and recoiling, Pyrrhos just stared at the dog. After a few seconds , he started to get angry, he then grabbed each part of the snout and tried to pull the teeth out of his leg while pulling his leg back.

Tahlia watched Pyrrhos walk away, and decided it wasn't worth the effort. Crouching down, she began to croon at Hewie.

"Good boy, Hewie. You showed him, oh yes you did."

Hewie was still acting weirdly, however. He seemed to be wary of the van, like it was a threat. He was on his hackles, growling. He had also put himself between her and the van. She had never seen him act this way before.

"Hewie, it's ok, it's fine, don't worry."

Since Hewie didn't appear to be moving, she sat down to watch the arrivals.

Decided that he wants more info, Pyrrhos thinks he will knock on the window of the van and hope to get the big mans attention. Before this however, he decide to look for some backup. He can't feel fear, but he's not stupid. Looking around, all he sees in the immediate area is the woman and her dog. He sighs to himself, loosens and pulls the wrappings past his mouth and walks back to her.

"As much as I hate you, I need you help." He points his thumb back to the van.
"Some big dude with a hammer is in there, and I don't think he'll take very kindly to me."

"It's okay, don't worry there, kid," she said to Gregorio when he came up with her. "So you're the helicopter sort of brother, eh? "I really don't wanna think about that sort of thing yet," Gregorio muttered, crossing his arms as Suzie's grin became really wide. She snickered at him.

"No offense, but you're a bit of a square, Gregorio. When I get into high school I'm gonna have fun!" she exclaimed. Gregorio shook his head slightly.

"Just don't have too much fun, I guess," Gregorio sighed. He then looked at Violet. "So, have you seen Helena Troy?" he asked. "How many people do you think showed up to this event?"

8:56PM - Washington University Physics and Engineering Super-computing Facility

Someone schools of thought suggest that the universe has a mind of its own and, in its interconnections, plans for all its players. Others perhaps more accurately iterate that the universe has a sense of humour. Helena Kyparissos was currently of the opinion that the universe had a bad sense of humour given events a few months ago. One moment she was walking down the street, the next she was in a white void staring her long dead grandfather in the face and flashes of a godly ancestor inexplicably in her mind. She was the great, by ten to the Nth, grand daughter of Hades, King of the Underworld and God of the Dead and Plenty. This in itself was, at the very least, unusual for your average Thursday even in America. The bad humour aspect was more that this gift of sorts was that she was from 'Down Under', as the yanks were found of insisting, and formerly an atheist.

"A happy atheist..." She muttered to herself, staring at a rather unimaginative terminal set up in one of the dustier corners of the super-computing building. The spectral figure of her grandfather briefly turned but didn't so much as slow the flow of his conversation with a series of other ghostly figures, visible only to themselves and Helena. Regardless, she found it hard to believe that their voices didn't pierce through whatever veil separated the two planes and alert the university security. She wasn't bothered by the noise, it reminded her of home if nothing else. It was the topic of their conversation. "Honestly, my grand daughter she works on these computers all day and for what? I don't know why she isn't out enjoying her youth, finding a nice boy..."

Helena cringed and quickly glanced down the hall to make sure the security guard wasn't nearby before rounding on the group, "This is important Papou, I am making sure everyone's research isn't ruined." Her grandfather frowned and the other spirits didn't seem convinced, "But what is that 'research' good for? They say it means we don't exist, you know Helena..." He pointed out, prompting a resigned sigh from the young woman. She'd often wondered what her discoveries on the nature of life and death meant for her world view, her theories, as well. Most often she wondered if she should write a paper or book herself into a nuthouse. Perhaps both. "Well, they still don't want their jobs held up in the computer all week because I was off 'finding a nice boy'." She crossed her arms and rose from her chair, slinging her backpack over shoulders and making for the door, "Besides, I'm not working too hard - there is a big Halloween party tonight. And yes, there will be boys."

With that she began studiously ignoring their objections and made her way out of the building towards the nearest cemetery, a kilometer or so down the road. While stopping by the graves on such a nigh would normally seem distasteful for her it was simply practical - The estate where the party was held was quite a distance from her current location there was another resting place near it. Her inheritance didn't have many perks but one was saving a lot on public transport.

9:05 - Outside Helena Troy's Estate

In a graveyard less than a block from the 'Helena Troy' Estate and the promised party a swarthy, unconventionally attractive young woman seemed to emerge from a veil in the air above a weed bound grave. Helena frowned a little at the state of the stone and quickly pulled a few of the offending plants from its surface. Its owner poked a ethereal head through it and smiled, "Thanks ma'am, the kids never bother." He nodded, a thick American accent and lined face, "No problem -" She glanced at the headstone, "Paul. My pleasure." She added before exiting the scene and marching to the estate gates. Unfortunately she hadn't the time to get a proper get-up for the occasion but jeans, boots and a Black Dahlia Murder T-shirt would have to do. Ahead she saw a few people around her age in various levels of costume and a black, slightly seedy van that screamed 'Free Candy' in the worst way. Even the nightly spirits were giving it good berth, a bad sign.

Helena spotted some people in costume beyond the gates and figured that was were the fun lay. She skirted her way past the van and into the estate, taking in the party atmosphere. It looked like it was going to be a fun party. Of course, the name of the hostess was a bit suspicious in light of what she now knew. But who said investigation couldn't be fun, right?
