Did anyone see this film? Can anyone tell me more about it? I watched it and I think I understand some of it but most of the finer details are lost on me.

It's essentially a movie about making a movie and the director is suffering writer's block. The director is a stand in for Fellini himself, who couldn't come up with a new idea for a movie when this was made (hence why he considers this to be a half of film in his film resume). Along the way, the director has typical personal life problems, such as marriage and affairs. Eventually, movie production had to shut down since the director never managed to get over his writer's block.

[up] I see. Does it also explore how movies work and the creative process behind those movies?

[up]From what I remember, I think it also dabbles in that. Keep in mind that it's mostly from the director's perspective.
