[up][up]Considering that half her lines are about what her mother would think, I'm gonna go with that.

[up]Yeah, I agree, there was way too much steam during the bath scene.

Episode 8:

Wow, this episode managed to really pull the rug from under my feet in regard to what's going on. Once the twist is revealed, the entire thing looks very differently.

Some good character development for Veronica. She was really pushed to the edge here, but it seems her team doesn't think less of her for it.

...Ahaha, this Foreigner was less "tough customer" and more victim of Foreigner cruelty. Did not think that was even possible. Veronica sure was furious, thinking Belva stole her hope, until the truth came out. Her vengeance quest, her thinking about resigning without a second thought...

She's truly focused on her endeavors, isn't she?tongue

Yukari/Quetzie pinball was so much fun to watch.[lol]

They make Blavia look so nasty, nobody even suspected that it might be he victim. That was a really good job, playing on our expectations.

It's not the skirt that's getting tight. It's the waist of that weird outfit.

For kamikaze drones, they don't seem that effective.

That would look dramatic if her outfit wasn't so ridiculous.

Quetzie disappeared a little during the final scene.

Mandatory spoiler: That was supposed to be a twist?

Yukari/Quetzie best characters.

It was bound to happen. Olga finally snapping, that is.

But good news, Lucifer is gonna team up with him after all. Except this happened only because he set things up that way. He is Lucifer. It comes with the territory.

An episode focusing on Olga, and instead of making him more sympathetic he comes off as even more of a tool.

Lucifer just strolls in and say he want to join them. Totally no hidden motives, honest.

Olga wants to know more about Lucifer, so he'll find someone who knew him personally. So he'll talk with Athena... aaaand he went straight to the octopus thing.

I would never see that twist coming if it wasn't so obvious.

Finally got around to watching this episode. It's, well, maybe the second most predictable show of the season. At most, there are some parts that could go either way, but I'm not sure I'd count those as twists, since either must be true, and they're about as plausible.

To say they never had a prayer against Olga would be quite the understatement.

Yes, Olga. Embrace the chaos within you. Mwahahaha...

Olga, that traitorous piece of shit! I knew something was wrong with him from the start!

The worst part is that I suspect they'll still try to save him, when he should be put down with extreme prejudice.

[up]The way they were talking implied that a Trance can be used to alter a human's mind in a similar but lesser way to a full-on bodyjack. My guess is that from the moment Lucifer kissed Olga's hand, he wasn't Olga any more.

You mean when they mentioned "brainwashing"? I don't think it's anything like mind control. Lucifer simply dangled all that Olga wanted before him and he took the bait. The goddesses had a talk about it.

A cult of Lucifer made up out of people who've lost their way. Totally not symbolic.

I think they're a bit unfair to Quetzie.

His goal sounds noble and all, but there's always this foreboding music that comes along when he talks about it. Mainly, there's a difference between creating a new world to live together in, and learning to live together in the world you've got.

In all cases, it was the humans who were hurt. Except Yukari and Quetzie. Dare to be different.

There is a noticeable difference in how Olga behaves before and after the trance.

Finally caught up. Dang it Morning Star stop being so damn predictable. Also from the previous page:

And I think I'll laugh if Olga Trances with Lucifer
I hope you had your laugh Diamite. The trance may have been brief but the lead up to it was loaded with gay subtext

I did like Olga's star-based attacks but I'm hoping for some kind of supernova attack rather than just increasing the number of stars. Anyway the show is getting predictable to the point that obviously the only way to beat Olga is if a certain someone will Overtrance again

So yeah, Tsurugi used Over Trance. So did Olga. Next episode is the final battle, and it's fallout.

Tsurugix Athena's Overtrance design is actually how I tend to imagine Lucifer being the incarnation of Light Is Not Good. Olgax Lucifer's actual Overtrance design though... looks like a generic bad guy but yay more homoerotic subtext

Their overtrance gives them an actual weapon to go along with the shield.

Meanwhile Olga looks... well, it has spike, black leather, a cape... yeah standard issue Evil Overlord outfit.

I like the detail of her fixing her hair. It doesn't make sense why she shouldn't have done it earlier, but still.

Yukari has the happiest transformation sequence ever. And she's so combat capable.

Why do they even bother muting his voice? Isn't it obvious anyway?

Everyone got a transformation sequence when just Trancing, but Olga and Lucifer gets one when they performed Over Trance. Yup, subtext be strong.tongue

My favorite part of the episode was Athena looking worried when Tsurugi's father talked about taking him to a girl bar and then relived then Tsurugi declined. So cute. waii

I am really disappointed with the treatment of Olga. For a while I hoped he was just playing along to find out Lucifer's plans or how to defeat him. Now I hope he's just possessed because he's more annoying than ever. My Logic tells me this ends in one of two ways:

-Olga redeems himself in the end by realizing he's been used for evil. Probably commits suicide though.

-Olga discovers too late that Over Trancing with Lucifer means Death (he was always disposable.) Pretty much as above except no redemption.

Of course, they could pull a Deus Ex Machina, have Tsurugi Over-Over-Trance and win, but that would be even MORE cliche.

In any case, I'd be very surprised if Olga lives. Not that I would miss him much.

Well, that's that series. Finale felt a bit lackluster, but it's not a particularly original or great series anyway.

[up]I think what they did wasn't all that bad. Considering what they had established earlier, I think it was better than expected.

A decent ending to a decent show, with a little teaser hinting at a sequel.
