I'd say that CONTRADICTION is Game of the Year of All Years but I don't think it beats out Monster Girl Quest. Regardless, I really love it.

Some of the non-Dragon Ball game they play don't interest me, like everything in the "Goku's Gonna Show You..." shows, but their other games are either franchises I already like or happened to surprise me like CONTRADICTION.

I seriously love the detail that Donald has to raise his nephews because his sister is an astronaut that got lost in space.

Howard: Claims to love Kingdom Hearts and has played the first game dozens of times.
Doesn't know what the leveling curve options do aside from the first one.
For the uninitiated, if you start at dawn (select all the first options) then you level up quickly for the first 40 levels then level up slowly (Donald levels up like this, I believe). If you start at midday (select all the middle options) then you level up normally all the way. If you start at dusk (select all the third options) then you level up slowly for the first 40 levels then level quickly (Goofy levels up like this, I believe).
If you start at dusk, you only need 878,291 EXP to reach max level rather than the 984,856 you'd need if you started at dawn. That's about a 100,000 point difference.

Shield is a good option in Final Mix IF you aren't going to Level 100.
If you're going to Level 100, pick the Staff. You will have two more MP.
Magic damage in Kingdom Hearts 1 is weird because there's no magic stat, so how much damage you do with magic and magic-based attacks depends on your maximum MP.
You can make items to permanently increase how much Strength, Defense and AP you have. You might have to grind, but it can be done.
You can't increase your maximum MP except with equipment, and you will always have the same number of accessory slots.
If you didn't pick the Staff, then you will always have 2 less MP than you would have if you picked the Staff.
...Also, the Staff gets Lucky Strike earlier than any of the others, and that's important in Final Mix on Proud Mode because synthesis items are a bitch.
Howard said to pick the Sword a few times, and in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix you never ever pick the fucking Sword it is the worst and it isn't worth the very very slight increase to strength.
You also never sacrifice the Shield on Proud mode. Ever. Having less defense is never a good option.

I went to level 100 after picking SHIELD in Final Mix. I wanted that trophy on the way to beating the game on Normal.

If memory serves and if the Final Mix didn't change it, at least taking Shield and sacrificing Sword gives you perfectly balanced stats in the beginning. But yeah, I'm still waiting for the day that someone on the couch actually gives the guys good advice.

Someone did mention in the chat, but then they immediately dismissed it. 
I remember Sword being decent if you immediately wanted to get physical abilities quicker, which was what Howard seemed to wanted.
I personally always went with either Staff or Shield, mostly Shield because you get an extra Item Slot.
CONTRADICTION's plot is pretty interesting as well. I didn't expect it to take the turn it did.
