Previously, there was a TRS thread for this, but it was never opened. It mentioned how it's basically "cheese exists."

When I did some looking, I noticed that it wasn't the main problem: rather, this trope has an identity crisis.

So far, I see the following:

  • Someone likes cheese: The laconic and the Playing With use this definition, as well as some examples. An inquiry noted that this is basically The Same But More Specific version of Trademark Favorite Food.
  • Something is made of cheese: That seems okay, so long as it's relevant, with the exceptions of those that could belong to Level Ate instead.
  • Otherwise, there's cheese involved: Personally, I think as long as it's amusing or relevant, it could be all right. Other cases are indeed PSOC.

Should we reform this trope or put it through the grater?

I'd be happy to pitch it.

While there are many amusing entries, I see no real value as a trope.

Cut it.

Either way, we appear to have consensus to shred this.

Time to start dealing with the wicks.

So, trope's a goner then? Feels... right, honestly. Felt like an excuse to add it if the word "cheese" showed up anywhere. It wasn't even anything about cheese, it was cheese itself.

I'll help the cleanup.

WHELP, the wicks are gone, seems like. What's the next step.

Oh, the thread? Don't worry, it's just dead.

we do have a slight problem though, it has over 300 inbounds. Are we ok just ditching those?

Wicks have been cleaned up; I put the trope in the cutlist.

We could always redirect to Life of Brian if they're that important.
