It was a beautiful fall morning in Celestia, and Katie Lempa was out making her normal rounds. As she always did, she stopped by her father's shrine to think and make an offering from her garden. As she laid down today's basket of tomatoes, she couldn't help thinking about how, not all that long ago, it would have seemed crazy to do this. She shook her head and went out to the town square.

Matthew was, as usual, a late sleeper. You'd think the grandson of the freaking sun god would be up at dawn, but nooo. He finally stirred himself and got changed into a t-shirt and shorts. "Hey, Mom. I'm heading down to the training grounds.. Anything you need me to pick up while I'm out?"

"No, I'm good. Say hello to Aicha for me, though."

"Will do. See you later!"

As Matthew went out, he noticed the brilliant sun in the sky. Thanks, Gramps.

Celestia, Thebes (Egyptian Pantheon), Aicha's home

Aicha readied herself, checking on her shield. "Okay I'll be off, everything's ready." Her father appeared from the kitchen. "Sure, I'll have your food ready when you return, oh and if you see your mom on your way, tell her I love her." "Will do." "Thanks, be safe then." Hope I don't screw it on my first day. With that in mind she got out of the house and got on her way to the training grounds. <HEY! Wait for meee!> Rommel, her little Fennec familiar darted out of the house behind her. <It's no fair, you have longer legs!> He said jokingly. "Yes, and you could teleport to me if you wanted to." <But where'd be the fun in that?> The little fox tilted his head curiously. "Yeah, where'd be the fun in that, huh? I guess some things will never change." The Fennec puffed his cheeks <I'm not a thing! Buuut since your on your first day of work and probably excited as hell I'll let it slide - this time.> He said, giggling.

Teo put down the clipboard and rolled up his sleeves, though it did little to help cool him down. Sunlight streamed through the windows set above his head, illuminating the rows upon rows of weapons and armour surrounding him. Leather, metal, gunpowder, and sweat- the scents hung heavy in the stuffy air.

Today he'd been tasked with an inventory check of the training compound's armoury; taking note of anything that was lost or broken so that it could be replaced in time for the training exercises.

Well, maybe not 'tasked' per se- 'volunteered' was more accurate. He wiped sweat off his brow. It was a lovely day, and nobody really wanted to be stuck inside the cramped armoury. Teo himself would normally be relaxing at the town park right about now.

He didn't mind though, or at least not terribly. He was just glad he could help out.

Alison was in the training grounds. She came here a lot, she'd found. Mostly because she didn't have anything better to do. Why'd her dad have to keep his job? Isn't there something he could have done here? She shakes her head as if to clear it.

No.. That's selfish..

She instead grabs a wooden spear off a nearby rack and starts practicing strikes on a training dummy.

Meanwhile, Kora is jogging towards the armory. She'd been tasked with collecting any damaged weapons and bringing them for repair. Not looking where she's going, she might run into Teo by accident.

Camryn heaved herself out of bed, grumbling. "Stupid bloody Tuesday..." She stumbled through her morning routine, throwing on a shirt and her trusty self-cleaning jeans, mumbling a greeting to her mother and stepfather, and brushing her teeth, before grabbing her wallet and heading out to the local coffee shop for her morning cup of joe. She may run into Aicha along the way.

<So as I said before, that's why I chose you to be my master.> Aicha smirked a bit "You? Chose me? I have slightly different memories of that. If my memory serves me right you crawled to me begging me to make you to my familiar after you got beat up to a pile of-" <Ahahaha, that's all open for interpretation, isn't it?> "Interpretation.... right..." The Desert Fox tilted his head again <Before I forget, I wanted to ask you something.> "Yeah, go on" <How do you endure Kolobanov when he's in human form? I have never ever seen - or even heard of - a familiar who flirts with as many women as he does when he's not a Tiger. I mean was there ANY woman he ever saw when he was not in a fight - no strike that, even when in a fight - that he didn't try to hit on?> Aicha nearly broke into tears while laughing "AHAHA, that's a new one, even for you, forget it." <Come on, do tell me. I won't say a word about that to him> Aicha wiped some tears of her eyes, trying (and failing miserably) to supress her laughter "Yeah, mostly because he will probably wipe the floor with you if you do." <That... indeed could be one tiny, tiny reason for it, yes.> As Aicha was walking to the training grounds, jokingly bickering with Rommel along the way, she came across Camryn. "Oh, heya there, also on the way to the training grounds?"

Intently scribbling down some numbers, Teo didn't notice the new arrival until they'd bumped him sideways into a metal cuirass. The metal clattered as it was hit, and started to topple towards the next cuirass behind it.

"S-Sorry, didn't see you coming the- ack!" Teo spent the next half minute stuttering out an apology, while also trying to stop the armour from domino-ing down the row. It was only when he had it righted again that he actually got a look at the new arrival.

She looked vaguely familiar, like most people on campus did, but he didn't think they'd ever spoken. "Uh, hey! Didn't think I'd run into anyone here." he joked, smiling clumsily.

Matthew reached the armory and started looking over the equipment. Everything appeared to be in order. As he selected a set of leather armor, he heard a big crash, as a whole bunch of metal chest pieces clattered to the floor. He turned around and saw two demigods picking themselves up.

"Hey! You two alright?"

"Huh? Oh, hey Aicha. I was on my way to the coffee shop, actually. D'you wanna come with?"

Aicha shook her head "Sorry, can't do, I'm starting as bodyguard for the Ra-family today, won't make the best impression when I'm running late at the first day of work now will I?" She smiled "Maybe another day."

"Ah! Oh my gods I'm so sorry!" She stands up and scrambles to help him pick things up."I'm an apprentice blacksmith, I was here to pick up anything that needed repairing..."

(To Matthew) "Oh, I'm okay. Thanks for asking!"

Teo waved off the girl's apology. "It's fine, I should've been paying attention."

He turned as someone called out to them. The other boy was taller and much broader than him, with a scar across his cheek. Teo honestly felt a little intimidated, but smiled at him anyway. "I'm okay too, thanks. Just hope none of these are dented." He nodded at the collapsed cuirasses. "Oh, speaking of repairs..."

He disappeared for a moment, and hurried back with a broadsword in hand. Its blade had a crack near the hilt. He put it on a nearby crate and lifted up another chestplate. "Are you one of Hephaestus' kids, then?" he asked the girl.

She tilts her to the side a little, before shaking her head no.

"It's funny! I get that a lot when I mention blacksmithing. Nope, I'm a distant descendant of Inari no Kami."

"Oh, sorry. That's cool though." Teo scratched his neck. "I guess it's cause he's one of the more 'well-known' gods. I've had a few kids think I'm from Apollo myself. I'm Teo, by the way." He turned to the boy as he spoke, addressing them both.

"My name is Kora! Hm? Who's your godly parent then?"

She bounces back and forth on the balls of her feet.

"Nice to meet you then, Kora. My madre is Feronia. She's one of the Romans." Teo held out his hands. "I've got the same healing touch as the Apollo kids."

Aicha looked around before putting the giant shield on her back and holstering her Khopesch "Uh, hey, the way to the coffee shop and the Training grounds is pretty much the same from here, care if we walk together? I must not be late." <Right, you sure nearly panicked in the morning when you thought you overslept. Even woke me with that>

"Oh. Hm. Interesting. I haven't really got any, to be honest. Powers, that is."

She shrugs.

"Well, technically I've got one. But it's not very useful, in most cases."

Katie had picked up breakfast over in the town square and was working her way over to the training grounds. When she got there, she saw an unfamiliar girl doing some spear practice. She asked the other girl, "How about a little live practice? You can't learn much by beating up someone who can't fight back."

Matthew glanced around as the other two demigods had their little discussion. "Matthew, grandson of Ra. Comes with exactly the powerset you'd expect. He took a spare khopesh out of storage. He couldn't figure out how to turn off the fire on his personal one, which made it impractical for training purposes, to say the least.

"Yeah, sure. I might come down to the training grounds once I get my cup of happy juice, as well. Gotta work on my marksmanship."

Alison turns to look at Katie.

"... I was just practicing the motions. I guess you could say I was taking out some stress already." Her voice is flat, not betraying much emotion.

"Though if you'd like to spar me, I wouldn't exactly be against it."

Kora inspects the khopesh.

"Hm. Made quite well. Not sure how it compares to others of its type though... Haven't learned about Egyptian weapons yet..."

She then straightens up and peers into the box Teo had put the broadsword into, before scampering off to look at the other weapons.

"I think that every power is useful. I mean, we can do things that most people think are impossible. That's pretty amazing, even if it's just something tiny like auto-killing weeds." Teo smiled crookedly. "That's a power I have too."

He picked up his clipboard as Kora scurried off, and then turned to Matthew as he introduced himself. "Wow, Ra's one of the major gods! I guess we can thank him for the lovely day outside."

It was a little intimidating to know Matthew was related to a big-name diety, but he seemed like a nice guy. "You help out at the training grounds, right? I usually see you around there."

"Nice. I was never the best marksman, though give me a bola and I hit a cat's leg at 50 meter distance. Haha, just kidding." As she talked a bit Aicha began to walk in the direction of the Training Grounds.

Katie took her spear and moved it into the ready position. "If you think you can take me, come on!" She dropped into a defensive crouch, hoping to swat away Alison's first attack and deliver a counter strike.

"Yeah, I do a lot of work around here," Matthew said. "Mostly on the training side, but I get some time in wit equipment upkeep. If your sword isn't sharp and your armor's rusty, you're going to get yourself killed in a fight, no matter how good you are."
