No, I watched the "Felix Truth" scene on Youtube as soon as I watched it in Spanish. I loved the acting in that scene in both versions. I dunno how the Globo Player works, too clunky, hehehehe.

Oh, I see. And I definitely get what you mean about Globo's site![lol] It can be somewhat hard to find the videos even when you completely understand the language. Not to mention that the videos tend to be a bit on the slow side when it comes to loading.tongue

I know right?

Also I heard Rede Record is the only TV Net capable of rivaling Globo. And I heard from you that SBT is just Rerun galore now. Can you tell me more about the TV Landscape in Brazil?

Yeah, I would definitely say that Record is Globo's main competitor. They seem to have quite a few original novelas, though I haven't watched any of them, so I can't speak much of that.

Well, to be fair, it is not just re-runs all the time. SBT seems to still have some self-produced around, most stuff like game shows, talk shows and humor ones. But yeah, there are still plenty of Latin American novelas re-running. Like I said, Cumplices al Resgate on there yet again, as is Maria de la Barrio. And not speak of the fact that they are probably the only place outside of Mexico that is still doing re-runs of Chaves.

As for other channels, well, there's Rede Bandeirantes, which is a pretty good source for news, but they also seem to be having a thing for Turkish novelas right now. I think that they about to enter the third one in a row, at the very least.

There are also channels like Cultura and Futura, which run a mixture of both dubbed and national kids' shows, mostly edutainment, during the day and then more serious programs for adults during the evening.

In the cable tv side of things, there are channels like GNT and Multishow, both which are owned by Globosat, a branch of Rede Globo, I think ,which both a wide variety of shows, like cooking shows, traveling, talk shows, home improvement shows, comedy ones, etc

You are wrong with Chaves! Almost EVERY country in Latin America still airs it! El Chavo del Ocho is incredibly successful outside of Mexico. In that Ratings page I showed you, you can see its quite high rated along with new stuff like Amar A Vida, and Vivir A Vida in Paraguay.

See that Chespirito? That's him!

I REALLY want a redub for One Piece in Mexico and Brazil. I hope Band buys it.

I wish Paraguay reran more novelas other than Betty La Fea and La Usurpadora. Those get rerun everytime a seemingly promising new network comes by. They never air anything else like any Globo Novela or even Maria la del Barrio!

Did you know that Rainbow said Winx Club is the most successful in Brazil on TV Cultura?

Well, it should come as no surprise to you at this point when I say that SBT can't seem to stop re-running La Usurpadora either. tongueB

No, I didn't know that. I did watch that show when I was younger, though I can't remember if it was on Cultura or not. At least we got a reasonable dub. Seems like anime isn't the only thing 4KIDS is capable of ruining ... sad

Well, that's a pity that it is so boring then.. And yeah, hopefully either of those two will come after this. Is there anything interesting on Paravision to compensate for it though?

I'm really sorry for taking this to reply!sad. I have been kinda busy lately and I just didn't know what to say until today.

And I don't have an opinion on that novela, since I have never watched it. But do you remember when I told you that Band has a thing for Turkish novelas now? Three guesses for which one is currently airing there and the first two don't count.tongue

OMG Im sorry I didnt mean to say you took long to reply, but rather how we havent had much to talk about since Amar a Vida ended.

Also, the whole gay thing is boiling here in Paraguay. There are stores that refuse to store "Gay friendly items" and so on. I really hope this doesnt lead to violence... I noticed that during Amar a Vida there were lots of sponsors. I wonder if those sponsors are gay friendly, since they didnt retire their support during the gay kiss in the final episode...

I know you didn't mean it that way, I just felt that I was taking way to long to reply. I don't want this thread to die and it would take only of one us stopping replying for that to happen ...

Anyway, it's really sad tha people are reacting that way, though probably it won't turn into violence, at least I hope it doesn't surprisedsad At least those sponsors are being rational about it.

Is there any other novela that you remember tha you want to discuss here more in-depth? That you probably help keeping this alive.

I had never seen that before, but even from the little I watched of it before coming back here, I gotta agree with you. The opening is indeed awesome, but oh my god, is there so much narm in the in the actual novela.tongue [lol]

Yay! Tell me more about it then! It was removed way too fast, I never got anything past the basic premise. The guy is a 300 year old kid or something!

Also I love that TV Cultura had original programming for kids! That's terrific! We in Paraguay never had ANY sort of thing like that.

AND I think the guy who edited that article could be brazilian! We could ask them to join the thread:

Well, there is not much I can say that hasn't been covered by the work page, if you have read it, but I will try. Essentially, the premise of almostv every episode would be that three kids are visiting Nino, the 300 year old boy, in the titular castle. Since this is a basically an edutainment show, there was an important lesson to be learned along the way. There was also a villain called Dr. Abobrinha that was always trying to use some convuluted scheme to buy the castle and replace it with a skyscraper. I also remember that pretty much always, Nino would almost sign the contract before realizing who it was at the very last second.

Then there were various secondary characters, most of which had the purpose of teaching something from a certain area of knowledge. The cat from the library, I think he was called Gato Pintado, would teach you poetry, for example. There are two guys, Tibio and Peronio, fittingly named after bones, that talked about science. I remember that one of them was obsessed with the butterfly metamorphoshis cycle, always starting talking about before being shot down. Then there was an episode where he finally got to talk about and was really happy.

There was also Aunt Morgana who, being a 6000 year old witch, fittingly talked about history. Bogô the pizza delivery guy, I think, was all about music. Caipora, being inspired by a Brazilian folklore figure, often had a legend about two indian boys to tell. Then there was Etevaldo, an alien guy from a pretty trippy planet. I think that at least part of it was made of ice cream or something.tongue Naturally , he was all about learning how our world works.

I also remember that there was a video, back when VCR was still a thing (gosh, do you I feel old saying thattonguesad), where was a guy named Zula, who was blue and liked the color blue and got merciless teased by the other kids, until they were set straight about it.

Anyway, sure, I will try contacting that person. Their handle sounds Brazilian, or at least Portuguese, enough.

WOW! That sounds terrific! Im so glad TV Cultura did a fun edutainment show like that one!

And Rastros de Mentiras I MEAN Amar a Vida did amazing in its final month on SNT. Topped the chart! Im so glad people didnt run away in droves from the gay kiss. Maybe it helps that Niko is such a devout Christian LOL.

Yeah, they really did. Fortunately, there are some more shows in that vein that they and their branch channel Futura made. I can tell more if you're interested.

And I'm glad to hear that it that well and people seem to be reacting like that to the kiss scene, specially in the light of that other, more unfortunate incident you told me about.

Can you tell me more about all the Globo Novelas you've watched? Especially if you watched Gabriela. I loved the theme song but I never got around to watch it LOL.

I didn't watch of Gabriela either, sorry.

OK, so after putting an effort to remember which novelasI watched and then going through a list of all the novelas Globo has aired from mid 2000's up to now, there is a huge backlog go through, so in order to keep this from becoming overwhelming, I will be doing this in batches. I will be also doing this in reverse order, from newest to oldest and probably also organizing this by timeslot. I will start with the now defunct 8PM, since I have already talked about all the 9PM novelas that I have watched.

Passione - This novela was centered Antonio Mattoli, better known as "Totô" , who was secretly the heir to a powerful metarlugic company. He was born from an affair Bete Gouveia had and her husband Eugenio had the child secretly shipped away to Italy, where he was adopted. He revealed this to her in his deathbed, but unfortunately, he was overheard by Clara, a devious young woman who pretend to be a nurse, who then proceeded to hatch a plan the inherance that Eugenio had left to his wife's bastard child.

A Favorita - This one was centered around the rivalry between Flora and Donatela, formerly members of a famous musical duo when they younger. Flora allegedly murdered her now rival's husband, whom she had an affair and a daughter with. Flora was arrested and Donatela ended up raising her daughter. Now 18 years later, Flora is released from prison and tries to reconnect with her daughter. But who is actually telling the truth here?

Duas Caras - 10 years ago, Maria Paula was orphaned and was set to recieve a large inherance. However, despite all warnings from those close to her, she was deceived by the devious Adalberto Rangel, who married her and then disappeared with all her money and leaving her alone to raise the child he didn't know they would have, subsequently changing his identity and even his face. Currently, she has now found the man who her ex husband has taken identity of, sucessfull businessman Marconi Ferraço and seeks take her revenge on him.
