I haven't seen the previous DC Super Hero Girls canon, so can I ask how different it was in tone? Were there any fight scenes in the original?
I do know some villains were shown as heroic but are back to being villains here.
Comic adaptations rarely care about which version of character suits role best, they always just go for the big name. That's why we never get other Batgirls then Barbara, despite her doing just fine as Oracle.
That show was mostly shorts (and few movies) so it would be probably best to just check one or two yourself. They were fight but not in every episode, I think later seasons had more action and even few multi-parters. It's hard to describe the tone, in theory similar, just with obvious changes related to being more high school- focused. Idk, I barely watched it.
Does anyone know what Green Lantern's accent is? There's something about it that gets to me but I can't pin it as anything.
There's minimal fighting, especially in the shorts.
Jessica Cruz's Mexican-American, so...it's a Mexican accent? (Admittedly her actress' delivery does make me think it could fit perfectly in a telenovela.)

Wonder how a series about "Teenage Trinity", "Kiddie Titans" and the like would look like (maybe with Adults Society too).
Wake me up at your own risk.New short:
"#Buzzkill" (or: Bumblebee vs. Green Lantern...kind of)
Short-shmort. When is new episode?
Ok, 2 episodes popped out.
So, making each episode title a hashtag is some kind of clever diabolical scheme to make episodes spread to net easily, right?
Looks like episodes will only be 11-minutes long, but I'm fine with that. That means more stories, and MLP suffered often from episodes that went on and on for too long. And we wont have to cram all six heroes each time.
"#Adventuresinbunnysitting" That was fun. Animation was really nice. It's sure is funny that "bunnies reproduce fast" is accepted comedy fact that is a-ok to put in kid shows.
"#Hatetriangle" Ah, struggle between story having a proper conclusion and leaving things open for next installments. Just like a comic book. Only in comic, Star Sapphire would probably learn for reals about letting things go and then n-ty issues later she would go "naaah".
Also, thing I was worried about: Hal is just an useless jerk character. And judging by previews Flash will be "good-natured but incompetent". Hey, girl shows? You come out as pretty insecure by making your token dudes complete losers. I know, Barry and Hal arent protagonists here, but will Katana or Hawgirl suffer similar dumbing down when they show up?
Huh I wonder how Batman or Superman will be portrayed if they ever do show up.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."What time are episodes airing?
see my completed Tangled (Varian) fanfic collection! https://archiveofourown.org/works/24467056/chapters/59049532Sundays at 4 in the afternoon EST.
@Sunchet
Yeah that is my main issue with the episode #Hate Triangle. They really flanderized Hal to being a one note jerk character with little empathy who is the very reason why Carol is now the crazed Star Sapphire. This episode was indeed character assassination especially compare to similar episodes from other shows like Batman: The Brave and The Bold and Green Lantern TAS which did the Star Sapphire plot without making either Hal and Carol the asshole in such a situation.
Peraonally the episode could of worked if the reason Hal broke up with Carol is because the Guardians told him about the dangerous side effects love has on a member of the Vio- no I’m calling them Star Sapphire Corps, screw you show, and Hal reluctantly does so through text as deep down inside he still loves Carol. This could also serve as a reason why he is in Metropolis instead of Coast City. And maybe the episode should of ended with Jessica convincing Hal to open up his feelings to Carol and talk directly to her as a part of being a Green Lantern is to overcome fear as clearly Hal is afraid of hurting the girl he loves feelings.
That way the episode can have its little Undertale aessop AND give character development to one of its side characters.
Instead we got THIS. Kind of makes mw wish the whole Dethroning Moment of Suck page still exist as this possibly be my candidate for this show.
That aside, I notice that Garth is like elementary/middle school age in this show. Wonder if all the other Titans would be that as well; then we could have a better adaption of Teeny Titans than that other show.
Character Exaggeration, not Flanderization. Flanderization only applies within a work itself.
I'm curious about how the villains will be used. We've already seen a few already. I hope Cheetah pops up.
She will appear in nearest episode, it should air any day now.
I forgot about that episode. I think it airs tomorrow.
I saw Cheetah episode, it was really good. I always wanted to see Cheetah as Knight of Cerebus. She's one of these villains who is technically one of the deadliest enemies of a really powerful hero, but in practice no one takes her seriously, thinking about her like a glorified Tigra.
Plus, there is a real double standard in comics. You have great powers like Darkseid or Black Adam, people will take you seriously. You have no super powers, like Deathstroke or Black Manta, people will gush how cool you are. Have ok but not God-like powers, like Cheetah, you're a fodder, mostly good for crowd scenes.
Another Thursday, another short! This time featuring the head of Sweet Justice, who just so happens to be one Barry Allen.
x2 Thoughts exactly. Really did like that they made Cheetah to be a major threat and a much needed serious villain on the show. Especially in highlighting how she is definitely the evil counterpart to Wonder Woman, like the way she manage to effortlessly take out the other girls.
And yeah there is a double standard to how she is basically underutilized as a villain. I mean besides being Wondy’s arch nemesis, she is basically a key member of the Legion of Doom which is supposed to be an assembly of the most deadliest villains in the DC Universe. And with her knowledge in archieology she would be the go to expert on all of the Artifacts of Doom for whatever nefarious schemes. It kind of gets annoying when even though in recent years she gets a major power boost of being a goddess herself (or at least made to be the bride for some cheetah god), she still gets the short end of the villain pole even after giving the entire Justice League a hard time. Personally I blame Circe for this who seems to overshadow Cheetah for major female villain role.

(Relatively) new shorts:
- "#TacoTuesday" or: Bumblebee vs. Giganta!
- "#SilverScream" or: Supergirl vs. Noisy Movie Theater Audience!
This show either has very loose continuity or episodes are out of order (betting on latter). Last episode has all six Dc Super Villain Girls together and one of the upcoming episodes sounds like an introduction for Livewire.
I believe Faust mentioned on Twitter it's the latter.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Alright, then we need so far:
- Introduction episodes for Harley, Ivy, Catwoman and Giganta (and possibly episode where they all meet each other)
- First appearance of Barry as Flash
- Episode where Karen upgrades her suit
Seeing Harley in her classic costume, and being evil at that, is so nice.
I'm curious what's up with Ivy's ears and skin, though. Can she change at will?
Does Cartoon Network ever air this show? Looking at the daily schedule, all I see is a bunch of Teen Titans Go, Gumball, Total DramaRama, and Victor & Valentino. I think DCSHG only airs on weekends? Hopefully this clears up once more episodes come out.
@Etheru Your joke just literally described Bruce and Alfred in the show Gotham. Hell Bruce even listened to some death metal in that show.
Anyway, on Wonder Woman, I have to agree with slimcoder on this. Especially seeing how the show could of just used Wonder Girl instead since she is teenage counterpart to Wonder Woman AND that Lauren Faust orignally intended to use that character for her show (SBFF). But since DC Super Hero Girl insist on Wonder Woman due to marketabilty for their toylines, Donna have to be self. Which kind of sucks seeing how Donna Troy is making a lot of appearances outside of comics in shows like Titans and Young Justice.
