Most of those claimants are Haitians, who were given temporary permits to live in the US after the earthquake flattened their entire country. The idea was that they could stay until Haiti was deemed safe. Haiti is not safe, but it was declared so a few weeks into the Orange Regime. They are set to begin deportations this January, so people are getting out of dodge.
I'm just concerned if any American citizens start making claims, if things get that bad....well it will be interesting.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Orange Regime? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principality_of_Orange
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.We wish.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. The Rohingya are being picked on again. Bangladesh is now getting hard on its stance on letting more refugees in its borders.
They themselves are too overwhelmed with its own people to absorb much. I do wonder however, how many are entering India. If India gets irate over the issue, maybe something happens.
I'm starting to get Rwanda vibes from this one, too many bladed weapons being used here....
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Malala is condemning the silence from Myanmar on the issue. For now, Jakarta is blatantly condemning the attacks on the Rohingya.

There's a refugee Olympian who's going to debut in Tokyo, if things go to plan.
So, in an effort to play France to Myanmar's Rwanda, India is planning to deport its Rohingya refugees, even those who are officially designed as so by the UN. They are also planning to further equip the Myanmar army so they can conduct counter insurgency/ethnic cleansing efforts better.

Modi is a piece of shit. Though he might not have any intention of carrying out such an operating.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.I ain't surprised since the Indians are now the latest arms dealer for Myanmar's army and their trainer for their special forces units.
Would have happened even if it was Manmohan Singh instead of Modi. Any pressure from India sends Burma to China and India is paranoid enough about being surrounded without making that a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Sad though. Was hoping for quiet pressure instead, but India doesn't have leverage.
Suu Kyi recently made statements that there is violence against Rohingyas, but "ethnic cleansing" is a strong word during a meeting with Erdogan.
She also said that false information may have played a role in the violence against them.

Since no journalists are allowed, the government's doing a study to whether its soldiers are committing war crimes against the Rohingya.
Dhaka is pissed when they got word that the Myanmar military is planting landmines at the border area.

Info on militant Rohingyas: the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army
If the leader of India had a shred of morality, they would see a state-sponsored genocide as something that shouldn't be aided regardless of losing an ally or not. But since a Hindu nationalist party is in power and Muslims are the victims, I didn't expect much and was right to do so apparently.

Life is unfair...A rather interesting article about the current situation for refugees trying to reach Austria and Germany via Italy.
Migrant Path in Europe Ends at Brenner Pass
Honestly, the situation is really sad. It might be prudent if the European countries invest more in information campaigns to combat the false picture created by many migrants who - perhaps out of pride - tell their friends and relatives in Africa false stories about how great their life in Europe is.
I mean nobody can be happy if poor women (like the ones mentioned in the article) accumulate great debts to finance their way to Europe, and not only don't make it to their destination (and have no genuine claim for asylum anyway) and are then forced into prostitution to pay their bills. They should be made aware that this is a foolish endeavour and that only misery awaits them.
Except as I said before, even a Congress PM would have made that same choice. India is paranoid about China and has been since 1962. India is also notoriously apathetic toward other countries internal problems unless it is itself adversely affected. Not enough Rohingya pass into India to warrant a response that aligns morally.

The DL has spoken against Buddhist ultranationalists in Myanmar. Be mindful on the comments though.
It seems India is sharpening it's tongue under pressure from Dhaka to do so. Albeit its only slightly less of a slap on the wrist, but it seems the Indian media is also getting irate so I guess we start the timer. Why a timer?
When East Bengal, then under Pakistan, started falling under genocide, it took India til December (Operation Searchlight started in March) of 71 for India to react.
Slow to be roused, as usual.
Dhaka is pressuring Yangon to stop with harassing and killing Rohingyas who are not with ARAS and warned them against using mines on the border again.
I have a feeling the Tatmadaw will call their bluff, so Dhaka better be prepared.
The Bangladeshi delegation is on the offensive at the UN human rights meeting. Yangon, via UN ambassador, has condemned the use of the word ethnic cleansing since no one has not offered strong evidence of it happening.
Suu Kyi has canceled an upcoming appearance in New York.
There's a petition calling for her NP to be removed due to her not being able to handle the violence against the Rohingya community.
Indonesian military is conducting humanitarian ops in Bangladesh.
Of course, various Islamists are now getting its followers to target Myanmar.

This is gonna get uglier...
https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/news/videos/20170914173708668/
Rohingyas in Japan are speaking out against the blackout conducted by Yangon to contain the situation. This came after diplomats from 40 countries worked together to visit the camps and issued condemnations of their conditions.
Al-Qaeda is rallying Islamists in SEA to head to Myanmar. Seems like they're using the weakness of ISIL as an advantage to be relevant.
Tatmadaw insists that ARAS is conducting false flag ops so that they can convince the rest of the world that the Rohingyas are being persecuted despite uncensored footage coming out of the area.

So any bets? This becomes yet another forgotten conflict in Burma or will the involvement of the outside create a catalyst for something.....worse?
Considering that we have avoided going Nuclear across the entire Cold War and that the great powers already have enough problems inside their borders, I doubt this is going to stir up a lot of things.
Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, we should find the absolutes that tie us.Doubt ARAS may hold itself back anymore.
Dammit that used to be us. It should be us.
Disgusted, but not surprised
