Justice Avengers: Starry, Starry Night

"Pray tell, Guardians." The Surfer asked the ones escorting him, following along and complying with every single order they gave him. "What kind of judgment am I to expect? I've heard tales of Oa's... methods..."

Jubilee, Oa

"So where are we supposed to wait?" Jubilee asked the Green Lantern. "Also, how long will it take to bring us back to our planet?"

Jubilee crossed her arms and frowned, annoyed that she is having to deal with the interstellar version of police.

"Zam-Vell?" Tomar-Re mused at the question. "Hmm... can't say I have heard of him, personally. But perhaps he's listed in the Book of Oa. That's where our masters write all they deem of importance. Of course, we'd need permission to check."

Then, to Jubilee: "You will wait here, this building is for guests. It might look- spartan, but then Oa wasn't chosen as a tourist spot. As for your needs, just touch a wall and ask for anything. For example."

The Avian touched one of the grayish walls, and said "chair". Suddenly, a stylized chair, like something out of The Jetsons, sprouted out of the floor right next to him. "Food" he then said, and a table with some sort of alien yet edible-looking fruits emerged from the wall.

"However you must remain here until questioned. Then you will be taken home. But you must wait your turn. Thanos' servant and the Kree intruders will be interrogated first."

Halo floated over to the Surfer. "Nervous? I mean, of course you're not, but if you are, there's nothing wrong with that. I might just be projecting. I've never been interrogated before. It's all so exciting."

She leaned her ax against the table and took one of the fruits. Sitting down on the table, she took a bite of the fruit, chewed it quizzically, and swallowed.

"Are you going to have one? They're pretty good."

Jubilee, Oa

"Chair," Julibee said, summoning a chair and grabbing some of the alien fruit to taste it herself before eating it with gusto. She then sat in the chair she summoned.

"Seems like there are more important things to deal with given what nearly happened to the Kree Ship," Jubilee looked bored in her chair, eating the fruit.

"Make sure you guys to take as much time as you want," Taskmaster asked Tomar. "But go easy on most of those Kree. They're all just rank and file following orders. Also, one of them, Una, she was actually vouching for us back on that ship."

A beat.

"Their Captain though, 'Yen Rag,' I think," the merc continued, "him you can probe as much as you like."

Taskmaster then approach the table. "Chair." He sat down on the chair that appeared and then picked up a fruit that looked like a bright green cross between a grapefruit and a peach. He took a bite.....but found its skin to be hard and rubber like, similar to a basket ball. He tried to peel it, but to no available. He then tried to remove the stem part, seeing that would help. He grabbed stem a pulled......and the stem worked like a ripcord, as pulling it out caused the fruit to deflate, wilt, and split open, turning a very bright yellow. Within the deflated fruit were several large, black seeds in the center. M&Ms came to the merc's mind.

Out of curiosity, Taskmaster plucked one of the seeds out of the fruit. He then popped it in his mouth. He chewed. It had the texture of a Skittle, and tasted infinitely better. "This is delicious!" he said, reclining back in the chair and then popping another in his mouth.

Oa

From the ground, you could literally see every star in the Milky Way galaxy. [1]

But currently, Laira and her prisoners were focused on a more significant display.

They stood on a large, metallic platform, in front of a row of seats. On each was seated a small, blue-skinned, large-headed humanoid. They had shocks of white hair and wore red robes. [2]◊ Despite their looks, they had an aura of- ancient wisdom, and almost tangible kindness.

One of them spoke: "Green Lantern Laira. This gathering of The Guardians officially recognizes your presence. You may begin."

The red-haired Lantern bowed and said, "Thank you, Masters." Then she stood and said."I encountered several persons of interest in my latest patrol. One of them is the Silver Surfer, minion of Thanos. He claims to be turning over a new leaf and wants to speak with you to prove it."

"Also present here is the crew of a derelict Kree ship. I rescued them after it was attacked by another Thanos agent, who unfortunately escaped. It was located within your sphere of influence, violating the treaty with the Kree Empire. Further, several humanoids inside it claim they were taken from the planet Earth against their will. They await questioning within the guest building."

"Very well" the Guardian responded as she finished. "We will begin with The Surfer. Silvery one, make your case."

Oa

Freddy looked out of whatever window he could find to stare up at the infinite stars. Wowzers, he was lucky! What other humans would get to see something like this?

Then he realized that a lot of the people they'd rescued from the Kree ship were... were...

"WAIT A SECOND!" Freddy blurted out as he ran up to Jubilee and Taskmaster. "H-hey! You guys are from Earth, right?" Phyla, meanwhile, was still focused on Tomar and trying desperately to look cool.◊

"So back to my earlier question," she said, "What can you tell me about Laira?"

Oa

Ghia'ta almost flew away from Oa. She was hidden from sight. A deep breath, a glance at the light of love and a glance at the broken bonds of her family made her change her mind.

While green lantern Laira changed subject, she addressed the guardians in a foreign title. With a name only her sisters the Zamarons would:

"Uncles," the star sapphire referred to the guardians, as a family.

The Zamaronian princess made her presence be known as she had also came with the group that had dealt with the surfer.

"I'm princess Ghia'ta of the Zamarons." She leaned forward as a sign of respect. "There is another matter of great importance I would like to speak with you."

The Guardians looked at each other, saying nothing but obviously taken somewhat aback by the Zamaron's presence.

"In a moment, Princess" one of them finally said. "Norrin Radd of Zenn-La has been called to testify first."

Oa

The silvery being walked and stood on the metal dais, looking directly at the Guardians. Unlike everybody else present, he seemed more amused than awed.

"Greetings, o Great Guardians. I salute you" he said, without bowing or otherwise gesturing. "I'm he who is known as The Silver Surfer, herald of Thanos. Or should I say, former herald. I have come to see the error of my ways, and seek acceptance on the ranks of the Light."

The spaceship Skuttlebutt

The sentient ship's sensors detected the presence of a very powerful, dangerous humanoid approaching itself as well as the fleet of Korbinite survivors it protected. Immediately, it activated its security protocols.

Their artificially augmented champion, Beta Ray Bill, must be awakened to help defend the fleet!

"Yup, sure am kid!" Taskmaster said. "Don't let the mask fool ya, I just wear it to look cool."

Beta Ray Bill awoke to the sounds of an alarm. He opened his pod, and stepped onto the deck of his ship. "Skuttlebutt," he said as he raced to the ship's controls, "report. What is the situation?"

Skuttlebutt [1]

"An humanoid being approaches the fleet" the ship explained. "Our records identify him as The Champion, one of the Elders of the Universe, a gladiator obsessed with physical combat and challenges. Beware, Bill! He's one of the strongest beings in the known universe! Intercept him but try to resolve things peacefully, if possible."

Beta Ray Bill put a hand on his chin, and nodded slowly. "Very well. Steer a course to intercept the Champion. We shall see if he can be reasoned with, but be ready for battle in case he cannnot. Bring up all available information we have on this Champion. Perhaps we can a weakness.,"

"So when are we going to finish up here?" Jubilee asked whoever would listen, rather bored of waiting.

Ghia'ta, Oa

"I must agree," she said after Jubilee. "Love is in jeopardy through out the universe. Time is of the essence."

Halo hovered off of the table. "What are you suggesting? That we break out and go after the bad guys ourselves? Because I want to come if that's what you're doing."

Jubilee, Oa

Jubilee then noticed Freddy's question about if where they were from and nodded, "Yeah, we are from Earth."

Oa

"It's...complicated," Halo said. "I'm from Earth, more or less."

Ghia'ta, Oa

Are you humans? What an honor! I have never meet humans before" She smiled towards Jubille and halo."Your species is legendary among the star sapphires."

"There is no other place in the universe like your planet. It has so much love for such a small and delicate place."

"Wait, really?" Taskmaster said to Ghia'ta, interjecting at the claim she made. "Ain't that a bit of an exaggeration?"

Oa

"I'm from Earth, too!" Freddy exclaimed as he overeagerly and unintentionally invaded their personal space. "I've been gone for six months. What's it like? What's going on?"

Oa

Halo looked befuddled at Ghia'ta's statement. Was there more love on Earth compared to other planets? Did smaller planets mean less love? What did they use to measure this sort of thing?

She turned to Freddy. "It's..." Halo paused as she tried to figure out what to say. "...it's noisy. And polluted. And everyone is always rushing. And when you try to do the right thing, you just end up making things worse and the people you care about get hurt because of you."

She abruptly stopped, realizing she had said too much. Time to change the subject. "Oh, and there was a new Astro Teens movie. I liked it a lot, even if Sam and Margaret thought they were getting repetitive."

Ghi'ata—Oa

"Not at all," the stars sapphire replied to Task Master.

She then flew near the group of earthlings: Halo, Jubilee and Taskmaster to explain herself better.

She closed her eyes and extended her palm as it glowed a violet light. "I can feel the shadow of love in your souls: Of your parents, of your friends, of your lovers. When you left your home you made a hole in the universe itself."

She opened her eyes again. " Your planet is the place that gave shelter to the star child. You gave love to lost souls: to the frozen angel, to the princes of Tamaran, to the guardian of the asylum."

Her eyes glew a purple light for a split second. "I have felt love in earth, from a single mother, from a lone father, from a friend, from a couple, far stronger than any sun. The kind of love that can beat death itself."

"It's easy to take it for granted. But not all species dare to love as strongly as yours do." She touched her left arm."Even my own people, the guardians of love, couldn't forgive my uncles and we parted ways." She then pointed at the guardians of the universe. The sapphire paused, noticing she had talked plenty.

"But where are my manners?" She leaned towards the group to greet them. " I'm Ghi'ata. Princess of the Zamarons. Star sapphire.Servant of love."
