Someone's gonna have to explain to me how I can use 4D89-0000-01DD-6CB7 in Super Mario Maker Bookmark dotnet. I think I'm a bit behind.

Is it me, or have the levels in Expert difficulty gotten much worse that they already were?

I spent a long time playing Easy and Normal to get the amiibo costumes from those two difficulties, and now I'm trying to get those of Expert (some of which are the ones I want the most).

If I lose 10+ lives in the first level after skipping so many levels on Expert, then the run is not worth it and I quit.

I want to make my own levels but I have no ideas and no clue how to design levels.

I made my first level ever! It's really short and easy but whatever. When do I unlock more things?

Just keep slapping stuff down and you'll be notified of more things incoming. Keep at it, and they'll arrive ahead of schedule.

Yep. You're supposed to wait nine days...or you could just spam the heck out of everything and get it all in about an hour. tongue

I'll try that tomorrow.

I'm not really sure how to create a level that's tough but not cheap. I still only have my first level, which I designed to be a 1-1 thing-a very easy, simple, but neat level. I think it wasn't half bad, but that's not what's gonna bring in the stars. (That level has one as of right now, for the record).

One thing to keep in mind when you want to make something tough is to keep the element that makes it tough simple. Want tricky platforming? Focus on that. Want flying Boos to be the main obstacle? Sprinkle them around the level. Most people that try to make tough levels try to cram too many challenging elements at once or go overkill with the amount of stuff, making the level look like noise.

What I do is focus on one specific element or gimmick and build the stage around that, with it getting progressively harder as it goes.

For tough platforming, how high is a full-momentum jump?

You can find out by turning on the "Mario trails" and then seeing them when you run and jump. With that feature turned on, the game leaves trails showing exactly where you went.

Which is also nice as it's different for each of the 4 game themes.

I forget if you start out with the "Mario trails" feature or have to earn it, though.

I uploaded my second ever stage, "Cave of the koopas". Should I link the IDs here?

You'll want to open a web browser and paste the URL of the chosen level from here. Course IDs as they are in the game are very difficult and outdated to try using. Super Mario Maker Bookmark is a life saver.

Hey guys... I know I've been really behind playing levels here (reviewing has been eating up a ton of my play time), but I have made a new level, and I would love feedback on it.

Hidden Treasures - 5229-0000-01E3-C4F8

I wanted to do a level that's on the easy side if you're just looking to clear it, but with a bunch of secrets that require thinking your way through the level and trying to do things the hard way. There are five different hidden zones, which take much more than basic platforming to reach. It's not possible (without an absurd amount of backtracking) to get all five in a single playthrough, but I'm hoping the hunt is really interesting for folks.

With the Twilight Princess remake about to come out, this shouldn't be surprising.

Also, Mario carrying a statue of himself for some reason!

Given the level they showed off, I guess it's supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek reference to making 3-style levels in 1-style.

I thought it was just a way to show off Statue Mario without actually animating him.

As opposed to like ? block or Trampoline, which are just possessed.

I'm fairly certain @3097 is correct - while I'd have to pull out the old Nintendo Power Player's Guide (yeah, I still have that... damn, I'm old) to double check, that looks like about a 90% remake of Super Mario Bros. 3 World 1-1.

It is a remake, pretty hard to tell without those slopes, eh?

I didn't notice it was a remade level until they put blocks to cover those pipes near the end, with is a more obscure detail to notice I realize.
