((Welcome to the Craftlands! If you ever forget the plot, feel free to visit here for an update on what’s happened!))

((I will be updating this whenever I can, which may be irregularly at times. In general, though, once all nine players have made an action, I’ll post an update explaining what happens. Any action that isn’t overpowered is likely to be considered valid, so please try and take these things seriously.))

((Quick stuff I haven’t explained yet - CIC takes place in a mostly realistic version of Minecraft - that is, physics are closer to our world and the insane hammerspace one gets in Minecraft proper is not a thing. However, it is worth noting that people here are slightly stronger than in real life, and more resistant to elementalism in general as well - this is why shooting lightning is considered “weak”, by the way.))

((An added note - it is possible for almost any NPC to become important. Be careful how you treat people, because it may come back to haunt you.))

((Let’s begin!))

All of you have, in one way or another, come to Silverspring.

A picturesque town of moderate size near the capital city and castle, Silverspring is known for its brook that supposedly has healing powers. Because of its proximity to the center of the Craftlands monarchy, it is a fairly thriving village, with three taverns, an archive of fair size, a very nice town square, plenty of inns to rest in, a prominent Nochite church, and of course the spring for which it was named.

The town has also been lucky so far in that Herobrine, who has been attacking towns of about its size, has not “visited” the place yet. Hopefully, this will not change in the future.

For now, though, it is late afternoon in Silverspring. Some of you have been here for a little while; others have just arrived.

What do you do?

When everything changes nothing changes.

Obsidian sat back and adjusted his glasses, a book in hand. Ideas in his mind about how to imrpove the land, to go beyond simple crafting recipes.

Sy reigns in her horse, stopping by the least seedy Inn she can find. She hitches her horse and walks inside. Conversation stops as she, in her brilliant armor, enters. Vaguely uncomfortable, she walks quickly to the innkeeper and, in a soft voice, requests a room for a couple of nights.

Eden stared at their hands as they sat in a chair far away from the other patrons in one of the less-visited inns. Their legs were drawn up and their body hunched over, giving onlookers the impression that they were ready to flee like a startled deer. Their mask had earned them many wary looks from the innkeeper, especially seeing as they hadn't removed it even when ordering food for the day, but they knew there would be much worse if they'd seen what was behind it.

Eden closed their eyes as scattered visions winked into existence for the fifth time this day. The town's name had been haunting them for weeks now, only growing more frequent as they neared it, but everything else in their premonitions was still indecipherable. They had no clue what was so important about this place, but they were here, and they were on the alert. Surely they would recognize what they were here for when they saw it, right?

The cloaked man, wreathed in darkness, walk the streets until he comes to a door, number 13. He does not know who the door belongs too, but it does not matter. on the door he scratches a symbol. Within the next week, those who have work for him will make their own additions to the symbol, detailing time and place. If there is no work, he will move on.

This is definitely the darkest timeline.

Uri searches for the most expensive inn he can find. Upon arriving at his destination, he scales the back wall, and drops down into a window of an empty room. He picks the lock on the door, and sneaks outside, pocketing anything small enough to be stolen without notice.

It would require a singularly stupid man to do something like that. I am most definitely that man.

Sir Anasurimbor, Esq. pays for his expensive meal, before retiring for the night, in the classiest inn in the town of Silverspring.

We may or may not have one last person sliding in. I'll keep the character I had just in case someone needs to drop out, though.

First post! 3 people haven't gone, but as this is early game and I've already notified them, I'll just do this anyways.

Obsidian adjusts his glasses and prepares to begin reading, and then hears a thumping sound from some way behind him. It seems like another patron of the archives has taken out some rather thick tomes, and has them laid all over the desk in front of them.

Anasurimbor retires to his room for the night. While a couple of people give him weird looks - it is, after all, only afternoon - most people direct their attention to the entrance of the inn, where a figure dressed in shining armor has just entered.

Sy, feeling a bit awkward, quickly asks for a room. The innkeeper bows in response.

"Ma'am, your accomadations will be ready shortly. In the meantime, I suggest you visit the springs - the weather is lovely and the springs are full and clear."

Upstairs, Uri climbs through a window into someone's room and goes to grab a small brooch off of a tabletop... but someone's hand seems to be on the item already.

"Nice to meetcha, fellow thief."

Meanwhile, on the other side of town - the seedier side - the Cloak marks a door. Nobody comments - in fact, there's nobody to see him. It seems that the majority of people must be in the tavern nearby, which is incredibly loud.

In an inn nearby, Eden is in a chair, in the corner. They shiver as the Cloak marks his door, although they are not conscious of why they are shivering at this time. An image reaches them, and this time it seems unusually crisp - but no less vague: An arrow flying from a tall stone tower.

@EchoingSilence, I put your character in the archives because you didn't specify a location and the book lent itself to a logical conclusion. Hope you don't mind.

It's fine.

Obsidian looked at the tomes and then to the being that placed them, "Can I help you?" Obsidian asked adjusting his glasses once more.

Eden made a soft sound in the back of their throat as their vision focused. An arrow... Feeling a growing sense of unease, they headed out of the inn to anxiously skulk around the town proper... If the tower wasn't in Silverspring itself, maybe they could find a clue as to what this fragment meant, or when. The chill that had overtaken them shortly before the vision still lingered like a bad memory.

The Cloak walks into the nearby inn. He grins as a silence spreads across the patrons as they notice him. He orders an ale, collects it, and retreats to the corner, calmly surveying the room as he sips his drink.

I'll do this one more turn, and then we'll have to wait on the other 3 folks before continuing - sorry for the inconvenience.

The patron, a light-skinned and brown-haired man, grins at Obsidian in a friendly manner. "I've everything I need here, though the offer's nice. Sorry if I disturbed your work."

In the inn, Anasurimbor reaches his room on the second floor. It's rather cozy and is located in the center of the hallway; the bed seems comfortable.

In the floor above, meanwhile, the "fellow thief" winks at Uri. Said thief appears to have his head bandaged up in a rather odd way, covering most of his hair. "Take any rooms to your left, I've already cleared the ones on the right."

Sy exits the inn into the square, and is greeted by the sight of a bustling tavern as well as a rather prominent and intimidating-looking Nochite church directly across from her. It's a pretty impressive building, even if it looks a bit out-of-place and warlike, being made out of a thick tower and almost nothing else.

Shylock surveys the town. He's entered from the springs side, and the air is warm and clear. From where he is, since the springs are a little higher up than Silverspring itself, he can see the town rather clearly. It looks nice, tranquil, although there is a rather dark blotch on the far side.

Meanwhile, in the dark blotch, the Cloak enters the tavern. Everyone stops and stares at him for a little - until, that is, a slamming sound is heard from a tightly packed corner of the room, along with a triumphant yell. "HA!" And immediately, everything goes back to normal as one of the members of the cluster starts up a furious argument with the previous speaker.

Eden shivers again, this time remembering their previous shiver. The air outside is nice, though, and from where they are they can see the spring-hill, and a small dot of a figure standing atop it.

When everything changes nothing changes.

(first of alll, sorry I am late on this)

The Timberwolf walk carefully into town, a large wolfskin cloak covering him. His weapons and armor are on his back, as well as an old shield saying "weapons sold" and they clink as he walks into the largest tavern he can find. Once there, he orders some mead and begins to scratch a symbol into the wood of the bar with his knife. All the while Timberwolf makes sure his hood stays up, and that no one gets to close.

Eh, I'll do another turn anyways, since the other 2 should be hopping in and nothing extremely important has happened. Yet.

The man shrugs at Obsidian, eyes glinting. "Unusual phenomena, especially Nether stuff. I think I'm getting close to some kind of breakthrough, but it's pretty damn hard to tell when nothing seems to match up with other accounts."

The thief winks at Uri. "Listen, if 'n when you get finished, meet my associate over in the, eh, shady side of town. She'll be in the tavern, you can trade some stuff around if you want." And with that, the boy hops out the window Uri opened and lands almost impossibly lightly on the grass below.

Anasurimbor takes the stairs at a moderate pace, and immediately notices that approximately half of the doors, starting with the one closest to the stairs, are all ajar or at the very least open.

Shylock heads towards the shady side, brushing past a man in a wolfskin cloak as he does so. Halfway there, he begins to feel like he's being watched by someone or something.

Eden watches from the shadows as the testificate man rides by. He looks fairly unassuming, but there's definitely something odd about seeing a testificate in a mainly human town these days.

In the tavern, the Cloak sits at a table. Nobody else comes near him, but it would appear that another cloaked figure on the opposite side of the room is watching him. It's hard to tell when their face is shadowed, though.

Sy takes her horse to the spring hill. There's an inn and a tavern here, and of course an arrow-shaped sign marking the way to the actual springs. She notes that a rather intimidating-looking figure has just entered the tavern.

The Timberwolf barges through the door of the tavern, but nobody seems to pay him the slightest mind. There appears to be a wide variety of people here - some are definitely halfworlders, and a few are clearly testificates. The bartender, a friendly-looking man with dark brown skin, pours the drink silently.

Surprising amount of words in this update.
