"What? No. It means we're like... guards, and janitors. We guard this place from looters and the like. We also clean the place up. The corpses tend to pile up after a while. I was just about to tidy up around this room, but... well, I dozed off."

"Well, let's see here..."

The old man reaches down the front of his tunic for a moment, before pulling out three items.

"Here we are. The first is a magic rune. We Janitors aren't all that well versed in the ways of magic, but from what I hear, it's probably pretty useful. Maybe."

"The second is this length of rope. It's... well, it's just rope. Still, things like this often prove mighty helpful, especially when you're in a... bind. Eh? Get it? Rope? Bind?"

"The last boon is... er... this rock! Yes, of course it is! ...no? Look, truth is, I nabbed this off a corpse in one of the deeper sections of the Labyrinth. People who make it that far usually have some good stuff... but this seems like any old rock."

"Alternatively, you can make a request of your own. It might take me a moment to find it, if I even can, but you'd be surprised what you can find in this blasted hole..."

Tell me what you want then, fool! I'm not a mind reader!

>"I wanna hear a riddle! :D"

"Aaaaah, yeees... so you except the challenge of the riddle, do you? Heh heh, I do love this sort of thing. Gambling with your life to get and edge. LOVE IT!"

The old man is clearly quite excited about giving you a riddle... Way more excited than you are comfortable with.

"Yes, yes, let's see... oh, I know a good one!"

" Many don't like me at all. Many like me a little. Few remain with me. But I still follow them. Who am I?"

You ponder it over a moment, also sending an inquiring thought your companion's way.

Uh... they didn't train us for this, so... um... hang on...

...well, that was helpful. You continue to wonder what the answer might be. What could it be, what could it be...

"Memories" could also work, but "youth" looks like the best option.

"Family" and "the future" could also work.

i dont think family or the future would work too well imo

however a couple of the other ones you mentioned are pretty similar

i think its probably definitely something among those lines

He dances a little jig about the place. What a weirdo...

He finally stops dancing, halting right in front of you.

"Ahem... yes, well, that is riddle's answer. Therefore, you may have an additional boon. Same terms as before. One of the three I have here, or an alternative request. Now, hurry up and choose."

You recall what the old man said before. Rune, rope, or rock. Or something else, if he can find it...

You may only choose one. The rune looks like the most interesting visible option (although a rune itself is just a letter). I don't want to make the choice myself, but the "something else" sounds like it could be useful.

well, no, we answered the riddle, so we get to choose two!

Sorry for doubleposting, but what if we ask for a keychain? That way we can change up our Keyblade and give it different abilities and such.

(unless this one doesnt work the same way as it does in canon in which case ignore me)

[It occurs to you that the rune may imbue the LOS or your Rusty Armor with an ability, or change the abilities they have already. Rope is a very useful thing to have; you should take it as Boon #2]

Maybe we should ask for something more comfortable/sturdy to replace our rusty armor ?
