Hmmmm, Pitched Battles...

Skirmish = Run into the Enemy in the Open World; no rules but counts for less.

Pitched Battle = Pre-Arranged fight at a specific location designed to be equal footing for both sides. Control of specific territories could be determined by Battles occurring at the relevant Pitch.

Siege = Combination of Skirmish and Pitched. Takes place when a Base controlled by one Team is attacked by another Team. Attacking Team needs to Capture the Control Points for the various parts of the Base; when assaulting the Team's Headquarters they must also capture the 'Fortress Heart' at the center.

Battle Arcade: Fast-paced Arena-style combat on smaller maps, with multiple game modes. Individual players could compete for Money, Prizes or Prestige, while Team Battles allow rival Player Guilds to fight each other without having to expend the time and resources for a full war.

Major Teams & Minor Teams

Major Teams are Teams that Control a Fortress, and usually much of the surrounding area. They also Control any Settlements or Resource Sites found there. This incredible advantage is off-set by the fact that other Teams can Challenge them by Building a sufficiently sized War Chest. A Prestige Challenge doesn't allow the Attackers to keep anything they take, but any vehicles destroyed or resources stolen are regained at the end, whereas a Conquest Challenge means the Attackers risk losing things they've invested a lot of time in.

Minor Teams do not Control a Fortress; they can, at most, Control a few Outposts. Those that don't, either operate out of their vehicles or pay Tribute to a Major Team for permission to squat on their turf. Minor Teams can Build War Chests, it just takes longer than it would for a Major Team. Minor Teams can likewise War against each other, with some differences. A Minor Team must first Issue an Open Challenge before anyone can War against them. Never Issuing Challenges keeps the Team safe, but it also keeps them from ever earning the Prestige needed to raise the Team's Rank, which they need to do to be able to Build War Chests.

Fuel Cells are required by too many things, they're getting split.

  • FUEL TANKS
    • Primary ammo for Flamethrowers, Cryo Blasters and Chem Cannons.
    • Secondary ammo for Rocket Launchers, Incendiary Cannons and Heavy Mortars.

  • POWER CELLS
    • Primary ammo for Lightning Guns, Plasma Cannons and Heavy Fusion Cannons.
    • Secondary ammo for Miniguns, Assault Cannons, and Super Nail Guns.

Any progress in actually designing the game? Or is it still a theory?

Talking about theory, has any MMOFPS actually been made so far? They're all small scale, instanced multi/co-op stuff.

Destiny and Borderlands are the only games that come to mind. Richard Garriott did try to create Tabula Rasa, which had a true open world and a blend of FPS and RPG mechanics, but it didn't survive for long and was closed after 2 years.
