Beat it.

  • I choose to keep my promise to mom and not fight back.
  • As Gamora, I defeated Nebula and did not give her the device. Hey, flashbacks mean that I can play her as an asshole without breaking character.
  • I like this Mantis better than the film one.
  • I'm disappointed that I was wrong about Meredith actually somehow being still alive.
  • I got Gamora and Nebula to reconcile.
  • I chose to empower the Forge because I kind of like choosing this obviously wrong decision just to see how big a fuck up it will be.

Does choosing to destroy the device change anything?

[up] Hala tries to use it to resurrect her son, but he dies halfway and it explodes on her. The explosion leaves her all scarred up, with some glowing after-effect. She gets pissed at you and vows revenge, but with no son and no resurrected Kree army.

[up] Huh. That's...that's a rather significant divergence. Didn't expect that.

Beat it, too.

  • Had Gamora constantly trying to protect Nebula, which was nicely poignant when it was revealed how much of Nebula's actions came down to Thanos listening in.
  • I still like the film version of Mantis quite a bit. I like this one, but I haven't seen enough of her to say I like her better, but I do kind of like that she's the one in the coffin. Even if I'm a bit sad that that reveal wasn't pushed out a bit longer.
  • I empowered the Forge because at the end of the day my version of Peter Quill just isn't that self-sacrificing. He's willing to believe the Forge could be used for good, no matter how obvious it is that it's going to fall into the wrong hands.
  • I'm wondering if letting Hala get her son back will pay off in being able to redeem her somehow. She seems like that sort of villain.

Other than that, same choices as lrrose.

Mostly filler, but my favorite episode so far.

  • I agreed to continue on the trip because Peter is not exactly a good decision maker.
  • I named my pet worm "Bowie".
  • I went with Gamora and Groot/Nebula. I learned that trees can get high.
  • I had Drax pull his daughter back. I didn't realize that would mean that he would cancel the trial.
  • I had Drax refuse the end the hug. After five or six goes, Kimaria broke free and yelled at Drax before running off.
  • RIP Nebula. Kind of surprised that Marvel let Telltale kill her off. Does she live if she doesn't become a Guardian?
  • I dumped everything but the photo. I gave the baseball glove to Mantis, who reneged on throwing it away. I also dumped the tape deck.
  • Of course I kept Bowie around as a pet.
  • I refused to let Drax sacrifice himself, which got Groot badly burned since Peter was too busy arguing with Drax to help repair the engines. Does Drax actually die if you let him fight the worm?
  • Mantis left the Guardians because their conflicts were hurting her. Drax left the Guardians because he was upset that Peter wouldn't let him sacrifice himself. Rocket left the Guardians because he was pissed off about Groot's injuries. Groot reluctantly left the Guardians to take care of Mantis, leaving just Peter, Gamora, and Bowie on the team.
  • WMG: Hala's son approached Peter to get his help stopping his mother.

Yeah, most of this episode is mostly character-focus, which is nice for their development, but it completely kills the pacing.

I chose to let Drax make his sacrifice. On one hand, there's no body, unlike Nebula. On the other hand, I'm still surprised Nebula can flat out die. Then again, they also killed off Thanos.

Telltale tends to have relatively small gaps in between their penultimate and final episodes. IIRC, Wolf Among Us's finale released only a couple of weeks after its fourth episode.

So the final episode is out and Telltale is celebrating by... laying off 25% of its staff (90 people)

I hate the game industry.

I really did like this episode and the game overall.

  • I accepted Bal'Dinn's offer to help against Hala in return for sparing her life.
  • I was grinning the entire Groot flashback. Stash-Lord!
  • I went after Drax first.
  • I assigned Rocket to be the Hacker, Groot to be the Protector, Drax to be the Distraction, and Gamora to steal Hala's helmet.
  • I convinced Hala to cede power to Bal'Dinn in return for me now resurrecting Knowhere to re-destroy the Kree. I had the Nova Corps take Hala into custody: she can't just walk after blowing up an inhabited planet.
  • I resurrected Kamaria. I figured that since she was a child, she was the most deserving. Plus, Drax's response was adorable.

Overall thoughts on the game: it started out rather stiff and relied a bit too much on repeating the movies' plot beats, but it won me over with "the feels".

I confess, I am not enjoying this game but am compelled to finish it.

I also am torn between the artificial melodrama of the Meredith Quill flashbacks versus the fact I love Courtney Taylor to an irrational degree.
