You know what the series is missing for me?

The Decepticons at each others' throats when they aren't fighting the Autobots. Just look at the wasted potential that is Starscream, for instance.

You'd barely know Starscream was even in the films at all if he hadn't been mentioned by name like, once or twice. I mean, he's probably (almost?) as iconic a baddie as Megatron himself, admittedly probably for different reasons, but the single most Starscream thing he did in any movie (join the jets who strafed Megatron) is entirely fanon as far as I know.

[up][up]If we get that we won't need the Autobots to kill them off. The Decepticons will probably do a better job of doing themselves in.

And yea, Starscream being one of the jets that fired on Megatron is pure fanon. I honestly Like that the Decepticons aren't all inept(or at least Starscream).

The Decepticons are as a rule even less characterised than the Autobots, which is really saying something. If you're not Optimus or Megatron then you're literally just a robot in the background for the most part.... or if you're really, really unlucky you're the 'comic relief' character... and may god have mercy on you.

So I guess that it's wrong for me to hope that Barricade will use his vehicle mode to send in false "the driver of these vehicles are wanted for an series of violent crimes, use lethal force if you see them" call on an police radio. It's already been proven in the movies that the Decepticons are expert hackers by humanity's standards, and the DS game of the first movie actually had him setting up police roadblocks against Bumblebee. To be honest, that chase was pretty funny in the sense as to how he was trying to screw Bumblebee over.

But still, if you can afford to mock the "To Punish and Enslave" slogan and use an extraordinary amount CGI, what's wrong the ironic villain engineering an police chase? You've already killed off the irony that is the Constructicons.

Hopefully we see more flying Autobots in these films. The Aerialbots are long overdue. I really want to hear them say, "Bring the rain!".

I'm hoping for Springer. His personality would fit in the movies perfectly. Like Prowl, he's been on the edge of being in the movies for a while. I'm almost hoping the Barricade picture is a psych-out to introduce Prowl.

I guess everybody forgot Barricade died in the third movie (about the 45 second mark). That seems like a big detail everybody's missing.

Barricade is the Schroedinger's Cat of Transformers.

Ok, I can easily say that Soundwave died...But which one of those other Cons was Barricade? I lost track when the camera cut to Brains and Dark of the Moon is the only movie that I haven't seen yet.

Yeah, Barricade just fled the scene when that ship came crashing down, so...

Barricade was last seen being sniped in the eyes during the attack against Shockwave, just before Optimus flies in and finishes him off. He was previously seen executing Que/Wheeljack but was not accounted for in the same fight where Bumblebee takes out Soundwave. So it's either two Barricade models (not uncommon in Transformers) or he slipped away during the Soundwave fight to meet up with Shockwave. He didn't get a close-up death like the others, so it's still possible he slipped away again and among those unaccounted for after Chicago.

Considering how Skywarp and Thundercracker can easily pass for Starscream if you silhouette them and how generic the soldiers' appearances can be, the "Barricade model is reused on another guy" theory has some weight to it. We got Skyquake and his twin brother, a few mini-cons from the recent Cartoon Network show, Cybertronian Bumblebee & Cliffjumper...

Besides, it's not that hard to go back into hiding when you're impersonating law enforcement. It's not like that you have an giant purple emblem on you shoulder or chest that says "Hi, my name is Barricade and I'll be your killer today!"

I look forward to Barricade returning and continuing to have no personality and most likely no spoken lines of dialogue.

Like at this point, Barricade returning is almost mostly academic. He's only name dropped in a subtitle in the first film. The rest could've just been other dudes, for all that mattered.

Considering Barricade's police emblem has the Decepticon Logo and "To Punish and Enslave", it's not like he's hard to spot.

But then again, he can easily change his vehicular appearance just by scanning another car, just ask Optimus on how easy it is to scan an Peterbilt as one drives by you...And they still need to explain why he hates Bumblebee, though.

Did the film's ever suggest he hated Bumblebee personally?

Background material suggested they had a rivalry. And to be fair, Barricade was the first speaking robot to appear in the series. It's the fact he had little to do in the rest of the films that is a surprise, probably because Megatron and Starscream took most of the time away from developing their minions.

Yeah, the only info that I have on the Barricade-Bumblebee rivalry is him yelling at the Autobot in his native language in the movie, an boss fight where he starts acting and talking like an cop, and whatever they've put in the comics. Hopefully they'll expand on their rivalry in the fifth movie.

Eh, hopefully Barricade isn't just a simple mook. Like at least the Autobot's get voiced characters, Megatron/Galvatron is like the only Decepticon who fucking talks & has a noticeable personality. Well him, Sentinel & Lockdown but only cause the latter two are main antagonists.

Also I really hope this movie is good. Like "The Last Knight" sounds awesome on talking bout Optimus himself or a new hero/villain. Also the tagline "I am slave to no one" is like beyond epic. I wonder who it means.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."

Probably in reference to Optimus and how Cybertronians were built as slaves to the Quintessons.

Reposting from the Transformers thread at the Western Animation section:

Lots of Autobot reveals.

Also, Barricade's replacing "To Punish and Enslave" with "Keep Calm and Hail Megatron.

Hey, does anyone remember if the other TF movies were this proactive in terms of showing off stuff pre-release? Because I don't think that was really the case until now...

Time travel is a thing in the Transformers series. So there might be some time fuckery in the movie.
