Crescent Peak

The snow harpy curiously peeked out at the wolfgirl, from behind Chiara. Tilting her head at the priestess' question, Taki quickly shook her head "No, Taki's just hungry."

Leaning out a bit further to gawk at the pixie, the harpy blinked before speaking again "Is the little one hungry too?"

Nice to meet you Eirikia whose presence made the fairy happy as she didn't had any friends and Luna was glad to finally meet some girls, spiritually, around her age.

Are you a new magical girl too? she asked Eirika.

Chiara's familiar hopped over to her shoulders when the priestess began talking. Chiara bowed politely in return. "Yes. My name is Chiara Oscura, and these are Frigg and Taki. We've come from the Red Mountain hold to visit the springs and temple, and to take a small amount of the purifying waters to use in healing others. Though, I must admit I was not expecting others to be here. Why have you come?"

Eirika didn't scare Kate, she could tell despite the Sidhe's accidentally scary display the tone of her voice wasn't supposed to be threatening. "Hello Eirika, my name is Kate and this is Scales."

Taking a look at dragon, Kate saw that he wasn't sharing the half-elf's friendliness. Scales looked like he was taking a defensive position. Kate sent to her familiar "She wasn't trying to scare us you know..."

"That's not the issue" Scales sent back to Kate, "it's that she's a fell magic user. She picked up a craft she really shouldn't have..."

Kate brushed aside her familiar's comments and petted him in an attempt to calm the dragon down. "Sorry about Scales, your accidental display of power made an impression on him."

"Hmmm," Desdemona considered, "That isn't really what I meant. Oh well! Before I answer your question, though, are you sure you wouldn't like to make use of my services while you're here? I won't charge you anything exorbitant." She wiggled her fingers at the ball on the table suggestively.

Lupi gave the snow harpy a look. "No I'm not hung- okay, maybe I am a little hungry, but that's got nothing to do with anything! Why were you talking about eating people anyway, or did I just hear wrong?"

Again ignoring Lupi's excitability, the priestess smiled. "A pleasure to meet you Chiara, Frigg, Taki. I am Kanin, a hunter and priestess from nearby Frost Glade. The chosen pixie wished for an escort here to train in frost magic, although..." Kanin's eyes glanced back at Lupi. "Her forethought was a bit lacking..."

Lupi pouted. "A temple with lots of spiritual energy in the heart of the cold north! Can't ask for a better spot than that to learn ice magic!"

"Yes, well..."

"ANYWAY! I am Lupi; just Lupi please, though the Great Lupi or the Magnificent Lupi are also good! Magical girl straight from Eluran, looking to toughen up! Because screw Magstara's death branding! Ah, though I'm already tough already, to be sure!"

Kanin sighed again. "I am going to check up on the rest of the escort group..."

Frigg looked at Lupi, a mischievous smile on her face. “I know,” she said slowly and solemnly, “I shall call you Lupi the Excitable!”
She looked from the pixie to the spring and back. “Alas, I cannot teach you frost magic, for my skills lie elsewhere. I doubt you could just come here and suddenly become a Frost Master, however. Such skill requires practice.”

Crescent Peak Temple

"The little one knows magic? Taki's never seen magic before!" The harpy excitably declared, before flapping her wings to move closer to the pixie-girl "Can the Little-hungry show us the magic?"

Given her status as a magical girl, this reaction might raise a few questions about what Taki thought of as magic.

Now that Sara is out of earshot, Lisha was finally free to say "What a bitch." She went into the portal with a long, slightly swaggy stride.

Out came the two(and a fairy) of the other end of the portal, setting their foot on the soft, crispy green grass of the meadow, Lisha turned around to close the portal.

"Well, now that civilian casualty and property destruction aren't a possible anymore, show me your moves-"

"Err, Lisha?" the fairy interjected as she pointed with a thumb at the west of them. "Hate to interrupt but what is that over there? Those piles of rocks?"

"The what thing?" Lisha mumbled as she looked at the direction, then she saw what she's talking about. It's more fitting to call it a pile of monolith rather than a pile of rocks considering how that one rock is standing in an almost perfect centre of rocks. There is something...glittering?...in the middle of that monolith.

"Hmph, okay," Lisha lazily acknowledged QTpie's acute observation and looked back at the fell caster.

With her new windfall in hand, Sara's desire to smack the Emperor's Lapdogs down was quickly forgotten. Not that she held positive feelings for either of them, or even non-negatives. She was just in such a good mood, she no longer cared enough to pay any attention to them.

Now, the monolith was something else entirely.

Pushing herself to her feet, Sara began approaching it.

Magstara

"Perhaps after we discuss what I said... Please, Lady Desdemona. You must know the Archmages want nothing but your safety and that of the nation. If you wished it, you'd have the best research materials, the company of those who study magic and this world and endless libraries to explore... Or none of that if you wished your peace and just to roam the world" says the Captain, passionately.

The Dream

Syl put on a look of worry and... sadness? As she looked at the sparks of Fell power coming from one of her newest guests... though she didn't say anything about it yet, merely smiling to the girls and then saying "I'm glad you all liked the cookies. There seems to be a big group who are discovering the Dream just today"

Lisha raised an eyebrow at Sara, taking a more than noticeable interest in the monolith. She rolled her eyes in disbelief, facepalmed and said "You took a liking to that pile of rocks too? What is up with you? First you got all high mighty lady-like, then you go and threatened me for a fight and now this. This seriously can't be for real..."

"Well, you wanna take a look at the monolith too," QTpie pointed out."Why else would you walk to it."

Indeed, Lisha does not seem to realize that her legs subconsciously walk towards it. When she does realize it, she shook her head and explained "Because I wanted to see what's the fuss about it, it's just rocks."

"Why you mad tho?" the fairy taunted, giving Lisha shit-eating grin while doing a sassy cross arm. She realized that is an opportunity to piss off Lisha and it's rather fun to see that. Of course there is the business at hand but they'll get to Sara if she's doing something funny.

Lisha growled in a pent up rage, fed up with the bullshit she had to deal wth, then she teleported herself to the monolith, leaving behind the wind and a blurred image at her original spot.

"Look at it! There's nothing around here!" Lisha yelled, stomping madly around the area and kicking around little pebbles and gust of dirt, all while the fairy held in a chuckle until "There's fuck all to look at here...what is that?"

She spotted a weird...sygil of sorts on the standing monolith, sparkling with white light. QTpie still chuckled but she's trying to calm herself down to this odd situation.

"What the hell is-"that's all Lisha said as she touch the sygil.

The Dream

"....this place?"

Lisha pull back her finger once she noticed that it burns a bit, then she took one look around and see it's not the usual Parn's countryside that she was in. Or hell, she damn sure it's not look like any other countryside that she's seen.

QTpie took in one last breath of laughter before turning that smile upside down and started to freak out on the inside. "Dahell did you just do?"

"I dunno, I just touched that thing-"

"Maybe it's that Sara chick doing all this-"

"I'm pretty sure that all of this is not what fell casters typically do."

"Well, let's just...look around?"

"Good plan."

<OOC: I think to prevent confusion, I'll only colour Scales' words when he is aiming at a specific person>

"That's not a good sign" Scales sent to everyone, "Fell is the most dangerous form of magic and what just happened right now means you either need a lot more discipline or should abandon fell magic all together. When you use fell magic, you are gambling your sanity and are very likely to end up a demonic former shell of yourself! I hope you keep note of that..."

Kate looked at Syl's solemn look from Eirika's display, it is likely the lady shared Scales' opinion on fell magic. It's sad how the fun atmosphere has gotten so serious, Kate couldn't really blame Scales but she was worried that the Sidhe was going to be turned into an outcast.

Trying to divert the topic, Kate said "So Eirika, seeing as we all talked about our pasts, maybe we can hear about yours?"

"Wait-" Before Sara could intervene, Lisha was gone. "By the Goddess!" Sara swore in shock, dropping her erratic behaviors.

Somewhere in her head, a voice was telling her to let the Lapdog fend for herself. After all, Sara didn't owe her any favors after her insistence on returning Sara to the grips of Parn, but Sara's better nature won out. Like it or not, she was one of the Sacred Maidens, and she had a responsibility to protect the world and everyone in it... even if she didn't like them.

But, she added inwardly, no sense in jumping in unprepared.

Reaching across her chest to grab one side of her traveling cloak, she whirled, lotus petals exploding forth to swirl around her dramatically. Her aura darkened further, obscuring her form as a black pulse traveled down her body, dissolving her casual-wear from her head down. As the pulse finished, another began at the ground beneath her feet, rising up along her and bringing with a new set of clothes— her Magical Girl uniform. As it passed her shoulders, she crossed her arms in front of her, and in a flash, a pair of elaborate, black pistols appeared in her hands. Lowering her hands to her sides, she tossed the guns into the air as the pulse dissipated and her cape unfurled, leaving just one more touch. Swiping her hands through the lotus petals, she caught a handful, and with a flourish and a flash, they became her trademark, her wide-brimmed hat. Placing it firmly upon her head, she reached her arms out, effortlessly catching Beck and Call as they fell.

"Power Within; The Black Lotus!" she called out musically as the black aura that had obscured her dissipated.

Holstering her weapons, she ran to the monolith (somewhat disappointed by the lack of an audience for her transformation).

"Nothing ventured..." she muttered, placing a hand against the Sigil.

The Dream

I dropped this thread from my watchlist, so sorry

Malika leveled her blade at Eirika, then threw accusatory glances at the rest of the room.

"A fell user... to think someone blessed by the goddess would stoop so low as to use heretical sorceries... dis-gusting." she hissed between closed teeth.

Now, this Syl. She was probably also an ally of the Lady, so why did she seem so neutral over this? Sure, she seemed rather saddened, but not irate in any way.

<Now Malika, let's not be hasty here.> whispered Enoch into her head. <We do not know how many of the people in this room could be secretive allies of the Great Enemy...>

The Dream

"None can resist the Enemy's call if they possess her taint." Malika spat as a none too friendly response.

She had no reason, in her own mind, to even consider the situations of fell wielders. Their mere existance was an affront to what Lady Eleisa, blessed her name, strove for. If they did not simply attack the righteous, they empowered the Enemy or spread her heresy even further.

"It matters not their origin, only their choices. And this is a choice of utmost insult."

Lisha and QTpie took her time looking around the magical barrier, taking in the scenery of a tall smooth rock surrounded by runes and such, until she came upon an archway, they peered through it and saw a forest...park...something like that. With a golden path leading to...somewhere but it's of interest. And a cat greeting them in but that's the least of the duo's worries.

Lisha has some doubts about this place and was debating mentally whether or not to just go back and finish her business and enjoy her jacuzzi but as soon as she hears some footsteps from the other side of the room, she thought, nah, fuck that, I ain't getting near her and went to the forest.

"Alright, QTpie," she whispered to the fairy, now hovering beside her as Lisha sneaked into the vegetation. "Formation Alpha, let's go."

"Roger," the fairy relayed with seriousness for once in this trip. Once Lisha got comfy in the shades of the forests and away from the (vaguely) established paths, she melded herself into the shadows, she would move through the forest by hopping between shadows and shadows and if the gap was too large, she would use a teleport.

Meanwhile, QTpie stick closer to the more visible path. For one, she is the least threatening thing you ever seen, why would you attack her unless you're either a wild predator or an immoral being who likes to swat flies and fairies alike. Another is that she acts as a scout with a better perspective, she would signal by flying erratically if anything's out of the ordinary.

So far, they would encounter nothing except harmless animals and fairies playing with each other. Hell, a group of giggling, playful fairies have come to QTpie and invited her to join them in their little game, enthusiastic to see a new face of their kind entering their realm, only, to their disappointment, that the pseudo police fairy have refused them profusely. Now it's Lisha's turn to have a laugh. Might be audible to anyone close by but she's ready with a jump.

"Safety and peace, eh? Hmph!" Desdemona couldn't stifle a short chuckle at the thought, and her lips curled upwards as she folded up the crystalline orb in her velvety tablecloth. "Captain Aleen Shiara of the Fifth Platoon of Arcane Knights..." she trailed off ponderously and shook her head, stepping away and gently placing the fragile instrument in another crate at the far end of the tent.

As she stood, the purples and pinks of her clothes - and some significant parts of the clothes themselves, as well - melted away into the aether in sparkles of light, even as they were replaced by pure white garments bordered with the dark blue of a night sky and embroidered with golden stars and sequins. As the fortuneteller pivoted to face Aleen once more, not just her attire, but her poise also seemed to be different. Her hair slightly longer and more refined, her back a little straighter, her head held a little higher, she herself a little taller, and something a little more regal in her bearing. This transformed Desdemona was without question worthy of being called "Sacred Maiden" or "Magical Girl".

Yet, her eyes remained unchanged, and when she turned to face the Guard Captain, they were filled not with the mischief of before, nor with anger, but some other, more somber emotion. Perhaps it was sorrow, or even pity. "I know that you mean well," she began, clasping her hands, "but you and others like you have invested so much of yourselves in the Magocracy that you blind yourself to the sheer hypocrisy of your own actions."

"You speak of 'safety' and 'peace' and 'trust'," she continued, arms now folded, "Tell me, Captain: if you were bound by a spell that another person could utilize to render you blind, deaf, and lame, or even kill you, at any time, for any reason, real or imagined, or even for no reason at all - would you feel safe then? Maybe you will protest that dampening a person's magic and blinding her or tearing off her limb aren't at all alike, but they are for us. Perhaps you will say that there are procedures that the Archmages must follow, protocols that they must obey, but make no mistake: the Council answers to nobody but themselves. Noone will dare to challenge their judgement if they claim to have a reason for it, no matter how flimsy the evidence may be."

"I spoke to a younger Magical Girl of Magstara some time ago, you know, a ward of the state. She was quite gifted, even for a Magical Girl, I would say. A brilliant student at one of the leading schools of magic, and an enthusiastic researcher. She explained to me, through much sobbing and tears, that her classmates had goaded her into secretly researching something the Council disapproved of. Naturally, she was found out, and one especially disgruntled Archmage sent her a rather furious and transparently threatening letter, which I read. This young girl told me she was terrified that she would be kicked out of the school, the only real home she had ever known, that her magic would be taken away, and even that she would be killed. I did everything I could to console her, but in the end, I could not, because as everyone knows, none but the Archmages would ever be able to lessen or remove the bindings. Would you say that girl was at peace? Did she feel safe? Phah!"

"And when you beseech me to 'trust my nation', well, that is the greatest jest of all! Trust is something that must be given freely by both sides, not unquestioningly offered up by just one. You sit here before me, pretending, even if only to yourself, that you are treating me with respect and dignity, when you and yours endlessly harass my innocent places of business, run me out of towns, and urge me to submit what is literally the entirety of my being to be toyed with or destroyed on someone else's whim! I am sick, and tired, and utterly fed up with it! What you offer me again and again is neither safety, nor peace, nor respect, nor dignity, nor trust; it is nothing but threats upon threats upon threats piled on top of an insane ultimatum!"

"No person, whether mundane or a Magical Girl, should ever be subject to the binding ritual. No person should ever have that kind of absolute power over another. I will never accept it!"

Des took a deep breath and let it out in an equally deep sigh, letting her fury drift away. "By the way," she added in a much more mellow tone, arching an eyebrow, "I really did have a vision of your arrival, you know. I also foresaw what would happen to you in the near future. I would suggest gathering your subordinates and leaving this city very soon, Captain. Otherwise, my vision says you will be met with a teeeeeeerrible fate."

"You shouldn't be so judgemental, you might be closer to the path of corruption than Eirika" Scales sent, while directed at Malika it was heard by everyone.

The glare Scales gave to Malika was much sharper than the one she gave Eirika "You don't need to be a fell user to become corrupt, you don't even need to be a magical girl. I've seen your type before, those who feel like they have a duty to purge evil from this world. And at first, they dish out a fair form of justice, but then they start pushing out harsh punishments for lesser crimes. Their mindsets warps into 'with us or against us', with anyone against them clearly has to be evil. They have little issue striking down the innocent, because in their minds, whatever they do has to be good!

And Elesia wanted Magical Girls to work together, not fight each other. Right now your actions are going to cause division, something that Aversa would like very much. Who'd you rather help, the goddess of civilization or the goddess of destruction?"

Kate was silent, before Scales talked because he had no idea what the right words would be to use on Malika and afterwards because she was just stunned by what her familiar said and a bit worried he might have provoked Malika.
