The Meganekko curse (a thread for meganekko fans)

Minor rant but.. Do you guys think that the meganekko curse (the common trope in harem anime where the girl with glasses never wins the guy or in worse cases , suddenly turned into a villain) can be broken. I find it funny that girl with glasses are often regarded as moe but they never even seem to get at least a winning chance in a harem unless they have huge boobs (a cliche that I'm sick and tired off. I want the normally proportioned glasses girl to win) and are often just there to fill the stereotype.

Initially I didnt even have a glasses fetish, but after years of watching anime I began to take notice and feel sorry for them. It was that feeling of pity that eventually turned to love that gave me the motivation to one day write an anime that shows that that girl with the coke bottle glasses hanging around in the background can be made into a badass super robot pilot or a skilled swordsman if given the chance and support she needs.Personally I think glasses go well with the tsundere archetype but unfortunately most writers would rather go for miss redhead for the role.

And yes I've seen Kyoukai no kanata and eben though I'm fine with Mirai, I think they overdid the glasses pandering too much. And Akihito was just annoying. The love interest of a glasses girl is never allowed to say that he has a glasses fetish (one time is tolerable, but only if their relationship has already developed far emough).

Im gonna say this again. Meganekkos are not a bad stereotype..no one just bothers make them likable.

So what do you guys think? Can the curse be broken? Will meganekkos one day gain the amount of love tsunderes and Lolis receive? Peace out

The girl with glasses in Gundam Build Fighters ends up with the protagonist, right?

I suppose the Nagato-chan version of Yuki has a good chance of winning, too.

and as for Nagato-Yuki chan I've read the manga and I loved it.

True enough there are exceptions but they are reeaally few and most of them drop the glasses anyway. It's really sad being a glasses fan.

Even Nagato (her original "seemingly emotionless alien" version, not her Disappearance or Yuki-chan selves) dropped them. Kyon, you're an idiot. :P Yuki is the only character in the spin off anime/manga that has a serious chance at winning but, given the moe rom-com nature of said spin off, her and Kyon will be stuck in a "will they or won't they?" loop for a LONG while.
