Do you like Everyman/Audience Surrogate protagonists in games?

I don't hate them but I could do without them. I get wanting to make the protagonist relatable but it leads to massive Gameplay and Story Segregation when they then go on to mow down countless enemies.

Depends on the game. Ideally an actual Everyman character wouldn't be a one person army. They certainly wouldn't start as one, at any rate.
