I am internally squeeing at Short Skirt/Long Jacket because it was used as the theme song for Chuck.
The last batch of RB4 songs has been announced!
I only know two of these: That Smell, which I'm not a fan of, and The One I Love, which I am.
Aside from That Smell kind of an underwhelming last batch. Though at least they didn't pick fucking Radioactive or Demons for Imagine Dragons.
On my wave, passing oooooooonYeah, the final batch seems pretty underwhelming. Then again, most of those songs I don't know, so there might be some great stuff there.
"Start A Band" was probably the most tolerable country song they could've go with, so I'm okay with it if we have to have that one obligatory country song there. Seems to have fun guitar track, though. "I Bet My Life" is a better Imagine Dragons choice than "Demons" or "Radioactive", both songwise and playability-wise, but I would've preferred either "It's Time" or "Friction". The exact same thing with the song from Mumford & Sons: I'm okay with the one they got, I would've preferred "Little Lion Man". "The One I Love" was a pleasant surprise.
The rest of them are either artists I know but I'm not familiar with the song in question; or artists I've never heard of before.
Looking at the overall setlist it's definitely not bad, it just haven't got me as excited as some of the previous ones. I was also convinced that we'd have a Ghost song on the setlist, as that's the quintessential New Metal Band of the New Tens, but I was wrong. Dammit.

Little Lion Man would've sounded ridiculous with the censorship it would have to go through, though.
HMX confirmed the list of the exclusive song for Xbox One Preorder:
- All That Remains: "What If I Was Nothing"
- Mastodon: "The High Road"
- Earth, Wind & Fire: "September"
- The Wild Feathers: "Backwood Company"
- My Morning Jacket: "One Big Holiday"
- Jefferson Starship: "Jane"
- Babymetal: "Gimme Chocolate!!"
- Pierce The Veil: "King For A Day"
- Linkin Park feat. Daron Malakian: "Rebellion"
- Interpol: "All the Rage Back Home"
- Marilyn Manson: "Mephistopheles of Los Angeles"
- 'Weird Al' Yankovic "My Own Eyes"
A lot better selection than the PS 4, in my opinion. I will definitely pick up more of these when they eventually become available for purchase. Nice to see Interpol and Earth, Wind & Fire make comebacks to the franchise. The Linkin Park song sounds more interesting to play than most of their offerings. The inclusion of Babymetal is awesome.
Also, pretty amusing that the Weird Al Yankovic song we got was the one where he was emulating Foo Fighters. Of course, it's HMX we're talking about.

Nice to know that our first Weird Al song isn't charted by Ozone Entertainment.
On my wave, passing oooooooonNo one's posted this yet, right?
And Zep-!
I'm fairly certain Kool Terry has consulted Dr. Steve Brule when it comes to recording and performing a video.
Well it's neat that they've finally found their way into Rock Band officially, even if it's songs I'm not a big fan of.
Some people in the Rock Band Road Crew have already put up early streams of their early copies, and in doing so show what some of us already know: quite a few features are missing compared to RB 3, such as Practice Mode and some others.
Wait it's missing practice mode? Why would they take out practice mode?
Not a lot of people used it, I guess. Whatever the case, they're planning on adding it back in a future update.
I will say that it's less necessary than it used to be after adding in no-fail mode as a subtle option as opposed to an outright save-disabling cheat.
But I still used it fairly often and I'm glad that they at least plan on adding it back in.
Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about. My PAX Stratocaster with Gabe on it arrived.
So the game should be out for everyone at this point. Anyone managed to play it yet?
I'm currently watching some streamers on Twitch play it, mostly this one.

Holding off on getting the game but I've heard of LOTS of dumb glitches from people I know, which HMX seems intent on remedying. Also:

On my wave, passing oooooooonI've been watching some runs of the game (as of now, I lack the hardware to play the game myself) and I can't help but notice that some of the guitar charts seem... kinda lazy. Not bad or wrong, per se, but it just seems that at many points if there were two simultaneous guitar tracks playing, the one that would be charted would be the simpler one. For example, instead of the fast tremolo parts of "The Seeker" the guitar plays the rhythm parts; same with the verses of "Still Into You", where you play the five-note rhythm riff instead; the verse trills of "Hail to the King" are ignored in favor of chugging the same rhythm parts you basically keep playing through the whole song.
Also, HMX just tweeted that the console-exclusive preorder songs should be already available as DLC.

Here's a friend of mine's review. Spoilers, it ain't pretty.
On my wave, passing oooooooonSome info about exporting previous game discs' setlists to RB4.

Rock Band 3 export is good news. I hope they get the rest of the DLC transfers working eventually as well.
Nothing in particular against their pick just for difficulty's sake... but I would've taken most of these on-disc over Toys in the Attic.

This week's DLC consists of three 80s hits.
By the looks of it, a lot of non-guitar instruments charted on guitar.
Ten new songs on-disc songs announced today:
While I'm a bit sceptical about the choices from Soundgarden and Arctic Monkeys, I'm extremely happy that "The Impression That I Get" and "Light Up The Night" made it to the game. I'm also happy that Aimee Mann made it to the game, even with a song that will probably be fun to play. "Pistol Whipped" confirms that the Harmonix bands are not out of the question when it comes to the on-disc setlist. If we get more of those, I wish we'll see some more Acro-Brats, Shaimus and That Handsome Devil.
