Anti-conformism through conformity
A lot of composers have spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to make this work for humans. Most basic would probably be that fast songs have a lot of energy and they tend to hype you up. A good example would be marches which were designed with a good beat that people naturally started walking to and had loud, quick instruments to convince people marching and going to war were awesome. Then you got slow or at least very heavy songs like requiems which crushed any conversation sucked out your happiness no matter what you were feeling. I'd recommend you listen to " in the hall of the mountain king", "1812 overture", and whatever songs you do listen to and think about them.

Yeah, I second that. Maybe listen to some music fom a bunch of different genres from classical to rock or rap. I'm one of those people who loves listening to music to get an idea of how characters feel, so maybe try doing that and sort of find ways of categorizing music in how they make you feel, e.g. "angry music" versus "happy" versus "amorous," etc.
Are you trying to find ways of taming dragons with music or is it just a fact that people have known about in general? The context of the story might help you figure out what sort of music might work for a character facing a dragon at a certain time.

Well, dragon's are intelligent as humans and the music effecting a dragon's emotions was found out by accident. Though there are evil dragons that music could be used against.
I'll take your advice and listen to music from all genres.

I took the myth that music can make a dragon fall asleep and took it up too eleven. In my story music can effect a dragon\'s emotions based on the rhythm of the music, but I don\'t listen to much music so I\'d like to ask what kind of music would effect what emotion?
