"Objective Quality" in Fiction/Art

A previous discussion touched upon the idea of subjective views on a certain work, idea, or trope, and its execution, can be objectively measured. I believe it was along the lines of "if a majority rule that something is good or bad, then they are right" or another idea along those line.

Then came the idea of objective quality, or, backing up opinions on a work with fiction. Aside from measuring sales of the work, there is no way a book, a piece or art, or even a movie, can be objectively bad or good.

Besides sales, what else can define the quality of a work without using the opinions of others? Is an "objective opinion" even possible?
