Space Battles does terrible things to otherwise good fanfic via the forum thread nature of its atmosphere. Direct interaction with the audience in a forum thread wrecks more stories than it helps. (See also Nobody Dies.)

Post your fanfiction on Space Battles and make sure it looks neat and organized.
I mean, pardon me but, Jesus fricking Christ. I looked at some of those threads there - sure, fic-threads are limited by 100 pages (supposedly), but there's one fic I'm looking at with 1,059 pages of typed responses.
1,059. Pages. Not comments. Not responses. Pages. And there's probably 15-20 responses per page. And this is the 4th thread of this story, written as a crossover between a fairly popular webseries and a fairly neglible webcomic.
That same fic that on a "recognized" fan fiction website has somewhere in the 500 review area. People eat fan fiction like candy at Space Battles and I don't know why. It's super-f'cking active and that disturbs me.
But in all seriousness, someone who frequents Space Battles, explain that to me.
