[up] Yep, for instance, Shin Megami Tensei uses characters that are more symbolic and representative of Chaos vs. Order than actual characters. I would consider trying to type them to be completely impossible.

I don't think there's a contradiction, though. The way I see it, an Interpretative Character is one that invites Alternative Character Interpretations. Not to mention, given the description and example list, it seems like it's more about characters who are frequently reinterpreted by creators, not by audiences. That is to say, an Interpretative Character is a meta character trope.

An Alternative Character Interpretation, on the other hand, is basically an Audience Reaction trope.

Soooo... we're agreed that we can have characters in different folders? I assume we want a commented note on the pages to explain the new standards and avoid more problems. Something like:

"All entries must now have context. See How to Write an Example if you are unclear on what this means.

This list is subjective and your mileage may vary. If you have questions or concerns about an example, please discuss it in the discussion pages or at https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=14140416270A36898800. Characters may have entries in more than one category as long as appropriate context is provided for each."

Edit: So comment mark-up works in the forums. Learned something new today.

Might also be worth it to include an explicit statement along the lines of "Do not move or remove examples except for factual inaccuracy or misuse. Characters can be in multiple folders. If you have adequate context to put a character in a certain folder, just do it; do not move an existing example of the same character somewhere else."

But yeah, I'm on board with this.

The deed is done; the cat has its bell. The note is in place and the current ZC Es have been cut. Now we wait- if the problems resume I'll add a note into the folders themselves and see if they help, but we'll see if the example wipe is enough to make people sit up and take notice.

So we're going to wait if enough people are concerned about the wipe. If it helps, I'm concerned

Concerned about what, exactly?

Edit: Also, I didn't mean concerned so much as it would hopefully inspire people to notice something had changed in policy here- the note was added several days ago but the ZCEs continued undaunted.

In any case, "concerned" is not helpful. What is your actual complaint?

Oh sorry, I thought you meant if so many people would be concerned that we'll need to bring it back.

Maybe, but not just because of aimless complaining. Do you actually have a coherent problem with the change or are you just being funny?

No, it was a misunderstanding

I've added a few examples to the Rationals section. I believe I'm the first to do so, so it'd be great if I could get a bit of feedback. Also, I think requiring context adds an interesting new dimension to the page, so I'm personally all for it.

Solid lists of several personality traits that correlate clearly to the personality types in question. Looks good to me! And it's much more interesting to read than the old examples.

Besides a few indentation issues I am about to go sort out, it looks like the pages are accumulating examples nicely, so unless there are any other issues I'm missing I think we can close up this thread.
