As a Mexican even though I do love my country and it's culture it's no secret that my country has an enormous crisis regarding education, economy, justice and human rights.

The recent "Ayotizinapa" movement rose in response to the mayor and his wife ordered the murder of 43 students. While not even their bodies have been found , people still claim and have hope they will show up alive. The distrust for the government has been such that they have employed an Argentinian team to identify their potential remains.

Also recently the president of Mexico was found, thanks to Aristegui the most prestigious Mexican journalist, to own a white house of 7 million dollars, However he claims that it was paid by his wife who also happens to be an ex-tv actress have been challenged as lies to hide corruption by many including Journalists from CNN like Jorge Ramos. The situation was worsened by the fact that the house was legally owned by the same company that "won" a construction contract from the government.

Speaking of TV, the president has received criticism of gaining votes and his job due to a blatant favouritism of the current tv monopoly of the company Televisa. The fact that his "success story" including marrying said actress seems to be suspiciously similar to a fabricated bad soap opera plot has been criticized all around the world.

Regarding the duopoly, the main tv station and only mass media most citizens have access, it's main founder once said:

" Mexico is a country of modest fucked class, Who will never stop being fucked .Television [Televisa] obligation is to bring fun to these people and get them out of their sad reality and its difficult future . The middle class, lower middle , upper middle . The rich, like me, are not customers, because the rich do not buy shit. "

You can imagine the issue this is when the son of that guy (Azacarraga) has a factual monopoly of tv and even imposed our president through the power of TV alone, while giving tv programs with zero educational or informative value at all.

These and other problems including a lot of insecurity, corruption and an embarrassingly bad education system plague the country. I share this video made by local celebrities in case you want to learn more.

Of course the point of this thread is to discuss Mexico's current condition and your opinion on it.

Some people should receive a proper PR training. On the other hand, at least that rich idiot was honest.

mayor and his wife ordered the murder of 43 students

What were the interest or the motives for the mayor and his wife to order this?

[up]I've heard rumors that the mayor and his wife were of high standing in the local underworld. Add this to the fact that the students intended to gatecrash a conference which the mayor's wife was attending...

Somehow I think there are ways of solving conundrums like this without getting anyone killed.

I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiot

[up]I see.

If those rumours are true, those two are scum, then. Killing or ordring the killing of students is... hell, I don't think even the Sicilian mafia would dare to do such a thing.

I am afraid to say those aren't rumours they are facts to the point even our president recognized it as such. That's why the population is angry. The Mayor was an ally of the criminal group "guerreros unidos" or "united warriors". Both are already under arrest... but the fate of the 43 student's corpses remains unknown as many including me doubt they are still alive.

It's also known that mayor if Iguala and his wife were having fun and even dancing while the murders were taking place.

I strongly recommend you to watch that video in the original post to learn more as that isn't our only problem.
