That would be a good concept.

So far, only Ana and Torb have confirmed children (2 being playable)

On the other hand, it's possibly implied that Reaper and Soldier also had a family, but it's unknown for now.

Well the character doesn't have to related to any of the characters we know.

Overwatch was a big organization so plenty of people must have had ties to it in someway such as a relative who might have worked in one of the branches.

I feel like they're going to exhaust the list of former Overwatch personnel who we'd conceivably want to see return to fighting. They'll run that into the ground long after people are already sick of it.

It's not like anyone is chomping at the bit for a short where Aldo P. Smyth watches Winston's recall message, glances over at his janitor's pail and decide it's time to suit up.

Well actually, on second thought, I'd like to see something done with the Museum security guard from the first animated short.

[up]I've actually been toying around with the idea of a Symmetra short that's framed around her answering the recall even though it was never meant for her.

The idea is that she finds out that Sanjay is a member of Talon (and observes him discussing Talon's response to a resurgent Overwatch), and when she tries to turn him in to the other leaders of Vishkar she either discovers they are in on it as well, or Sanjay manages to so completely outmaneuver her that Vishkar's leadership becomes convinced that Symmetra is the Talon mole.

Symmetra manages to escape, and seeks out Overwatch.

Such an animated short could also be used to showcase Sanjay as a playable character and/or Utapea as a map.

So, finally went ahead and did my placements. Last time I actually really went in and did all the placements for Competitive was, what, season 3? Those were the days. We were young then, you know. The wind ran through our hair.

It could've been bad luck — and certainly I ran into the same toxic person a few times — but I feel like the mode's gotten more toxic. But again, I've only done 10 matches in one long splurge, so I'm not, like, making a definitive comment.

For those curious where I placed: 2669, Plat. For comparison, I ended up with, I dunno, 2660 in Season 3. So slightly higher, but there's the weird thing: I actually only won 2 out of 10 of those games. Interesting, no? Could've gone better, I think, but my personal performance seemed alright, and those matches had a lot of friction between people. I'm willing to put it down to bad luck and unfortunate teammates, but I'd be a fool to say there's nothing I could've improved on.

Now, the fact I didn't end up in Bronze after that performance, well, I initially thought, 'well, it's because I had an established rank from earlier, right?' But I went higher. Only slightly, admittedly. So, interesting stuff, right? Perhaps my personal stats were just, y'know, truly brill. I suppose I had, like, a 57% winrate back in the end of season 3 (I won't claim to have truly been a Diamond player or anything, but I think it's probable there's some climbing I could've still done back then; ultimately I only played a few matches, since I'm not that big of a rank-desiring person). Perhaps that had an affect on my final rank this time? Who knows.

In case you're wondering what heroes I used: a mix of Moira, Mercy and Zen. It depended on team comp, of course. My rule of thumb: Moira if the team mostly sticks together, Mercy if I feel like I simply won't be able to heal properly without the mobility, and Zen if I felt that the long-range heal and damage orb utility outranked having a second 'core' healer. Lucio might've been a good pick for Kot H especially, but I'm less confident with him. I can do an alright Orisa too — almost had to but our tankless team lost before I could walk back from spawn with her. (It was a second round after a crushing loss; I think they'd all given up hope. Certainly one of them vocally had.) Never give up, people. One of the games I won had a surprising turnaround. A fun war story, it is, but this post is getting long.

I think how you personally played, both by itself and in comparison to the rest of your team, has more influence on where you're placed than your win/loss record.

It's comforting to know that, after losing 8 matches almost in a row, the system still officially pegs me as an 'alright enough' player, albeit I probably shouldn't let that get to my head. Of course, I understand why they don't outright reveal the ranking system. Even I — Saint Lavaeolus — would be tempted to abused it if I knew exactly how it works. And then, of course, I would actually abuse it. Just a tad, you know.

Ranking is broken and the placements are useless. The Overwatch team has never bothered to fix that waste of space that is placement matches.

[up]Those dumbasses sound like fake nice guys or incels. Sadly this kind of thing is very common in OW and the community whenever it is brought up will just say Mute and move on (which doesn't really solve the issue if you ask me that this kinda behavior should not be tolerated) or just use one of the most shittiest excuses for verbal and sexual harassment that I really hate seeing.

Oh it's just the internet/gaming world what do you expect? I expect people to actually be decent fucking human beings so I can not get my gaming experience ruined by fucking manchildren and on rare occasions toxic gals too.

I hate that people do this, and anyone who has to listen to shit like that has my sympathies. I hope humanity will reach a point where that kind of shit is unacceptable and punished, and I hope it happens soon.

[up][up]I have mixed feelings about the "mute and move on" response. On one hand, there's some truth to it : Yes these behavior is problematic, but there's not much you can do to erase it yourself, and it's not something that will suddnely disappear anytime soon, sooooo muting and moving on is the only thing you can do to save yourself a headache. And reporting, of course, but we all know how well it works.Although a friend of me is starting to get decent results with those according to the ban notifications.

On the other hand, that's not supposed to be an actual solution to the problem, but assholes are claiming it is one anyway to legitmate their toxic behavior.

Does the game give you any indication of whether or not someone else has muted you? It might be something to look into, if muting someone also sends a strong implicit signal of "I don't care" to them.

Honestly, they think ignoring solves all problems. That's wrong: Ignoring is but one step of solving this. Ignoring is used so people stay calm throughout the game. However, after ignoring, they have to report silently so the perpetrator pays the price.

People tend to forget the latter. Probably too lazy. Or it wasn't the trend enough. Maybe if we could make 'reporting for bad behavior' a trend...

Sadly you then run into another problem regarding the report system, namely how it's abused to bully off-meta mains or even just some people who inadvertently cost a team the match.

Don't stop, just proceed, 'cause this is what you need-proceed, just proceed, 'cause this is what you need!

[up][up]Which is why we should start reporting toxicity more often so those guys become a minority of the reports sent. I mean, the only way to fix the issue is to use the report system correctly.

And I know the report system of OW in particular has it bad, but it's worth remembering we'll always have a biased outlook on the report system as players because we're bound to see the people the system failed to ban, hear of the players it banned for the wrong reasons, and never see or hear about the people it DID ban legitimately.

I had something on a forum once that taught me that. We got something like three bot accounts the same day that managed to pass trhough the bot filter, and same filter also got two false positives in the following week on post made by human posters. so someone questionned why we even bothered to have it since it was so factually useless. So I opened the stats of the filter, and it had blocked over 100 000 bots over the past years for like 10 times it didn't do his job properly.

I'm pretty sure nobody can find numbers of how many players have been banned from overwatch unless the dev team made it public, but whatever it is I'm betting it's much bigger than we'll ever give them credit for.

Here, played a few more Competitive matches. Here's a funny story for you: so, we open up, Ilios, and we rush the point. Frankly, we curbstomp, it's great, and one of our players says over mic 'Symmetra, really?' (The enemy team, you see, had a Symmetra.)

But then another player suddenly pipes up: 'No! Don't get arrogant. I don't want to be dragged down by your karma.'

Obviously the first guy is, like, 'what?', and then the second suddenly starts targeting that he's American, briefly (stereotypically you guys are arrogant, for the Americans reading this). You may laugh, and indeed it was funny at the time, but he was right. Suddenly one of the enemy players leaves, and the match is cancelled. The dangers of hubris!

Did have another leaver a few games later, on our side. I was disappointed there. We failed to defend initially, and while I think we mostly played disappointingly, we did manage to get it into overtime — so it was a perfectly winnable match, I thought. But they leave, and I'm actually proud of the rest of the team, because next game they really surprised me. We lost in the end, of course, didn't get the first point (King's Row), but we all played very well and came close several times. With an extra player I think that would've been a dead-cert win.

Finally, I had a game where the entire enemy left partway through. Won the first point, one person left, which of course led to two other people leaving, which of course left everyone quitting fairly soon after. It was sudden, when the last person on their side left, like just being suddenly disconnected. But I think that still counted as a win.

I've honestly just been having fun playing Brigitte in FFA Deathmatch. She can be remarkably effective there for someone with such a low damage output on paper. Finish top 4 most games and I have managed to pull off a first place finish.

Brigette is a blast in FFA. I was wondering what role she would have on a team and it just looks like she’s a support that only needs occasional babysitting. Alone she’s pretty strong.
