By the way, an "Origin pack" has apparently been revealed, costing 40 dollars and including a beta key, goodies for other Blizzard games (such as a baby Winston pet for WOW and a playable Tracer character for HOTS), and a few skins, which notably confirm that Reaper is Gabriel Reyes.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Sounds like the base game is either going to be much cheaper at say $20 or even F2P like many were guessing.

New characters revealed at BlizzCon: D.Va, Mei, and Genji (who is indeed Hanzo's brother).
Base game is $39.99, Origins Edition is $59.99, and a Collector's Edition is also coming ($129.99 if Amazon is to be believed). No base game version for PS4 and Xbox One.

I dunno if it's just the coat, but Mei looks like she has a nice chubby physique that I forsee a lot of Fan Art of.
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefI mean, she did Antarctic research. Anyway, super hyped for everything. Can't wait for Spring (tm).
....Northern hemisphere, I mean. It's already spring here.
Well, in any case, I'll have to pass on Overwatch for the time being, what with the price. A part of me wonders if it'll pull a Wild Star in the future.
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefIsn't d.Va's backstory basically just Pacific Rim?
Also, South Korea drafting E-sports stars to pilot mecha?
Okay.
Well South Korea is the Star Craft capital of the world.
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard PlaythroughMan, the negativity in the Overwatch community is gonna give me an aneurysm. Every possible thing is drawn to its logical negative conclusion. Yesterday people were loudly proclaiming they wouldn't play the game if it was F 2 P, now they're bitching that it's too expensive.
Sigh.
Sounds like a Blizzard fanbase!
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard PlaythroughWell so far I'm liking the look of the characters introduced. d.Va looks like the only one of the 3 I'm going to consider a "Main" though. Alongside Zarya and probably Reaper and Torbjorn and Bastion.
Man Mei is hella cute.
Genji I'm kind of indifferent about.
D.Va just leaves me completely cold. Nope.
I think there was a new map in the trailer as well, basically a studio backlot.
Yep, a Hollywood studio. Bunch of different ambiences. Pretty cool.

Big Girls need love too
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!Apparently some people wanted her to be a Panda?
Like... why?
We already got an animal hero, and Chinese stereotypes.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Finally got home (can't youtube at work) and was able to view the new videos. I stand by my earlier first impressions (Mei a best). I really liked the bit between Hanzo and Genji and hope other characters get specific interactions and history between them.
People are getting nervous about the post-release plans for the game, mostly because the guys who would know — like Jeff Kaplan — have dodged those questions repeatedly.
The main question is: "All right, we know you're satisfied with the current lineup of 21 characters, and this is probably the whole group that will be available on release — but in the event that you come up with more characters after the game is out, what would be your ideal plan for releasing them?" Blizzard still have yet to give a straight answer along those lines, and now everyone seems to be paranoid that they'll put major, game-changing stuff like new heroes behind a paywall. Personally, I'd be fine with putting cosmetic stuff like skins up for microtransactions, as that kind of thing wouldn't actually change the meta at all — but it'd be annoying having to buy new heroes (especially since it risks putting people who can't afford them at a disadvantage, and thus splitting the userbase), and it'd be outright dumb having to buy new maps.
I'm chill with pay-to-play, but anything that sounds like pay-to-win makes me antsy... and I'm definitely not alone there. Granted, Blizzard have not confirmed that this is what they'll be doing with any new heroes they happen to create — but the problem is that they haven't denied it either, and every opportunity they've had to clarify the issue has instead resulted in evasive answers.

Because the question of in the event you put more heroes is the crux of it. The devs don't know — it's not decided yet, and it's probably up to management anyway. People are expecting the devs to give them an answer that they don't and can't have, and acting like the worst of the worst is confirmed when they don't get it. They even said
and yet people are still giving in-depth tutorials of how to cancel your preorder and why a B 2 W model will kill the game. Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.
Given the wild success of hearthstone. And That other game that inspired Overwatch I am not surprised that people expected F 2 P. I myself am shocked by the pricetag.
I might play it anyways but I probably won't preorder.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.TF 2 was not always free-to-play and was initially purchasable. They may go free at some point in the future, who knows.
Also, people have already started shipping Mei and Zarya. It would be pretty adorable, I think.
...
I can see it. Their backstories aren't TOO different, with most of the differences being thematic.
Also I am envisioning it and it is adorable.
Does that mean this will be the last three revealed?
