High School Dx D does its winning differently.

Alll the girls in that series have agreed to share Issei. They just compete to see who can the most attention from him, but still support his goal to be Harem King.

Somewhat related, something that bugs me about harem protagonists is that it seems like they are all either complete perverts always thinking of sex and trying to peep on women, or they're completely chaste and pure and pass out from nosebleeds from the slightest sight of female nudity. There's no middle-ground.
You have to keep in mind that in some cases the MC might be a deconstruction attempt, so his cirucumstances might be a bit more "legitimate" than the rest. Keitarou-sempai had more problems with this than most will give him credit for. Most of the time he was getting beat up or looked at with suspision for simply making the wrong turn. I think a lot of people could easily open a door if it's not locked, so that is another example of an honest mistake. We don't always know to knock, so it's reasonable to make this mistake. Also, the writer of the manga or anime may have his own sexual proclivities that he inserts in, for obvious reasons. You'll see perving on that particular character or multiple characters of the same type.

I think Kimihito manages to be fairly balanced as far as the pervert/chaste dichotomy goes.
