Uh, yeah, some unidentified ship just popping right in near your colony. Totally not going to draw defensive action.
I'm just confused how the ship bursting into flames still has a shadow, including the flames themselves.
...how does fire cast a shadow anyway?

Anyone else find it odd and suspicious that a giant tree is using a fire attack? Maybe it's not the Praeses doing this.

I'm more puzzled by how fire burns in outer space. Unless they have a shell of oxygen around them or something.
It's all happening in moments, it can be just the fuels and oxygen from the ship's supplies so far.

Or it may not be real fire. Nanoite technology should be advanced enough that synthetic fire is possible.

As already noted, I think, it doesn't explain how the flames can cast shadows on the tree's trunk.
I don't think those are flames, I think those are pieces of the ship.
I think you're right. I took a closer look at that frame and it looks like debris, not fire.

.....wasn't he flying the ship?
He pretty much set it to autopilot when he asked it to get them to nearest Praeses.
I'm wondering if the bird gave something back to Gavia when it took her nanotech and made her some sort of suicide berserker when she got to the Praeses.
He gave her the globe when they first got on board; if you look back through the strips you can see him doing it (or about to do it.)
