Conditions: The non-human either doesn't communicate very much (Exocomps in ST:TNG) or are socially inept (The Terminator, Red Tornado)or doesn't communicate at all (The mini Supermen that Superman could shoot out his fingers....yes, that happened)
But in the end the subject sacrifices himself and everyone stands around and feels bad.
