If it had been an act, then that would have been one thing. But Alex was saying those things because she actually believed them, and if Purity had told them where Reign was Alex would have immediately executed her. It also seems like the reason Purity came out in the first place is because Alex scared Julia at her house.
Another vote on "please don't have Mon-El leave Imra for Kara." Just... no. Wasn't Brainy supposed to be her new love interest? Why hasn't he been around?
Minor quibble, I feel like Ruby probably would have called Alex instead of Lena. But whatever. EDIT: Oh wait, Lena mentioned that Ruby thought Sam might have gone back to work. So that's why she called Lena.

Well, Alex is a Man In Black and a spy. She's basically the Black Widow of the set. I actually prefer that Alex to lovey dovey romance plot Alex.
And Mon-El/Kara is amazing in its badness but her being a homewrecker actually amuses me.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Ehh, I think there's a line between "keeping you in this cell as long as we need to" and "you're a bug that I get to squash." Season 1 Alex was a lot more entertaining because she didn't cross that line
and if the show lacked any self awareness of that, it would be a lot more tolerable.
I’d have preferred if it Alex’s action came from fear of Kara getting hurt again/desire for revenge over Kara being hurt, than hurt feelings over her breakup with Maggie.

“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranSee i read it as both. There were some scenes where it was clear Alex was terrified of Kara getting hurt again, and some where her feelings for Maggie were front and center.
They're not necessarily exclusive though, as that kind of emotional trauma tends to ooze together.
Or simply say that her life has sucked lately and has a lot of unresolved anger, even without especifics.
Wake me up at your own risk.Where's J'onn's dad? I liked J'onn's dad.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Enjoying retirement. Learning to play shuffleboard. Not throwing himself pointlessly in the path of villains.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Alex losing her cool isn't out of character. Making it about her being sad about Maggie, that was what was bad. We've had multiple episodes supposedly about her moving past that, and this episode ignored them. It's no longer interesting.
If it had been a case of "my sister just got beaten to within an inch of her life by a Worldkiller not too long ago and now there's more of them around, I'm done with this crap," then it'd have been far more believable and interesting imo.
So IDK why they just didn't do that instead? But really most of the characters here suddenly have personality shifts out of nowhere. It was, kind of bad in that regard.
But I want to see that, I want to see an episode of J'onn's dad just hanging around Vancouver learning about fun human stuff, maybe rescue a cat from a tree at the end.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.I'm Netflix binging the show now.
Only into the midpoint of Season 2 but MY GOD did the show take an enormous nose dive or is it just me? I think it might just be Mon'El because I can't stand the character. He is just SO generic and uninteresting. I think it's also problematic because Supergirl dumps James within minutes of finally getting him despite him being a pretty awesome dude.
I say that as a terminal non-shipper.
Man, I miss Callista Flockhart too.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.A lot of people dislike Mon, so you ain't alone.
I think he's a little better in the current season, but that's due to plot reasons I'm not sure I want to spoil since you clearly aren't that far along yet.
One Strip! One Strip!Oh go ahead, I was spoiled before I started watching.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.James got dumped because Mehcad Brooks wasn't sure that he could switch cities with the rest of the cast. He did, making this plot look awkward in hindsight. That's not to say it would have been a good idea anyway; there was another character this season who had to be written out because the actress didn't want to keep being a regular, and she was handled in a much more gradual way and given a real reason for leaving.
As for Mon-El, I love him when he's not being romantic with Kara. There are a few moments where they're just acting like buddies, and they're awesome, but then cool friendship moments get derailed by forced romance.

Yeah, Mon-El has been really cool in the third season, but now that he is starting to question his feelings for Imra and going back to Kara, I might soon start to hate him again.

Kara has earrings.
HOW AND WHERE DID SHE GET HER EARS PIERCED? Clark shaving with heat vision at least makes... okay it's silly, but I've only seen him do that in the TAS cartoon.
- Alex helped her and Kara used heat vision. Well, she could have. That's kind of hardcore. Even if Kara could use her heat vision that precisely (and I can't remember her doing so on this show), Alex would have to help/guide her and this is HEAT VISION we're talking about.
- Clark helped. A possibility, but can you imagine how awkward the conversation was? "Kara, you want me to what?" "Clark, I need you to use your heat vision to help me pierce my earlobes!"
- Kara did it herself? Possible, people do it, but the tools involved are a little different.
- Maybe her powers weren't that developed when she got them pierced - she had super strength in grade school, but she couldn't really fly as a young adult, so maybe her durability wasn't where it is now.
- Maybe she only get them pierced sometime after joining the DEO and learning about kryptonite... in this show they can make Kara mortal with low levels of kryptonite dispersed in a room so I guess they could focus it into some kind of needle-like instrument. But considering kryptonite induces a seizure-like effect on Kryptonians you'd have to be tough as nails to sit through that while someone is punching a hole through your earlobe.
Spoiler tags make things look all mysterious an help set up punchlines, but fine I'll remove them.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Was spoilering that necessary? Maybe they're clip-on.
They stay on when she gets hit and goes flying, and when she herself is flying at presumably top speed.
World's strongest clip-ons.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!They have earrings on Krypton and she had it done then.
:)
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters....oh yeah, 6-10 year olds getting piercings doesn't sound too unusual on Krypton.
I mean, they created a Siri equivalent that powers and controls all of the technology on their planet, and their world's smartest man was only able to build a single-passenger escape ship. Given how advanced and cultured this society was, child ear-piercings probably weren't too out of the norm.

I actually thought Alex made a pretty good bad cop to Kara's good cop. They should have kept that dynamic going.
