I think this is the best place to put this so here goes nothing.

After I saw that the infamous Left Behind series was getting a reboot this year, I thought to myself...eh. Upon seeing the trailer, I thought it was decent so far, there are some improvements here (you see Buck actually do reporting on the plane for starters) but I still felt that this movie wasn't going to be that great. Of course a lot of christians and such are just spamming the reboot's Facebook page saying "HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT?! THIS IS A GREAT SERIES!" My favorite remark being, "Let's see YOU do better!"

...Ok.

So I began making ideas and writing for a hypothetical reboot that would improve the books so much. True, that's not a huge accomplishment, but I like reinventing the wheel.

Anyway, here's the stuff I have so far:

Rayford Steele: In my new version so far, this Rayford is a lot more likable, at least I think he is. Like the series, his flaw is Lust but in this version, while he still doesn't get physical with Hattie, this is actually seen as a wrong thing. Rayford only started flirting with Hattie and being like that because he thought she was gorgeous and never seemed to realize her real feelings for him.

Once he sees that she actually did love him, Rayford actually feels remorse for what he did. The apology scene I came up with is essentially Rayford being "Look I...I didn't know Hattie, please forgive me, I truly didn't know!" And of course, Hattie would still call him out for being incredibly oblivious to what she was feeling. This would lead into Rayford's character development.

You see, my Rayford is incredibly oblivious to the world around him pre-rapture...ok intentionally oblivious. He never pays attention to anything that doesn't matter to him. It's only after the rapture happens that Rayford starts becoming more involved with others. He genuinely wants to be a good person, he just got lost along the way.

Buck Williams: Now, unlike Rayford, this version of Buck is vastly different than the original books. Not only is Buck a competent journalist now, he's incredibly risky, doing dangerous, scary, and downright stupid acts to get a story for his newspaper. The reason this Buck is considered a master reporter is because of his incredible determination and the fact that he can churn out several pretty good articles in a matter of weeks.

However, with great power comes great arrogance. To say that Buck Took A Level In Jerk Ass would be an understatement. Unlike Rayford who genuinely didn't know he was being an ass, Buck fully knows that he can be a jerk...he just doesn't care. Buck loves his job, and once again, will do anything to get a story, even if he has to do something shady to do it. He's also passive aggressive, knowingly doing little things that would piss someone else just to spite them.

Also, Buck and Chloe's relationship is much different, considering that for a while, they absolutely hate each other. And Buck constantly mocking God and Jesus simply because Chloe doesn't want him to isn't helping that. Yeah, Buck's a mean asswipe. However, he still has good qualities besides his work ethic.

He does deeply care for the friends that he has, and he has a moral code. He won't kill for a story, he won't lie in a story, and he won't tolerate news being censored by a big wig. He also has regret for his actions, no matter how much he tries to deny it.

The Relationship between Buck and Rayford: Yeah, it turns out they're long time friends. They met at college along time ago, this was before Ray met Irene, and they slowly became close friends. At the time of the reboot, Rayford and Buck have become a lot more edgy towards each other. They're more Vitriolic Best Buds but they're still Best Buds. They still have a strong kinship that cannot be destroyed, no matter what.

One of the definite concept scenes I have in mind is when Rayford rushes to his home to find that his family (except Chloe) is gone. Rayford of course, is crying and feeling remorseful and just down. However, what makes this different is that Buck comes too.

Upon seeing that Rayford so distraught, Buck sits next to him and at first says he's sorry...then he tells a joke. Rayford gives al title chuckle but nothing else. But Buck keeps telling more jokes, each seemingly funnier than the last, until Rayford is laughing hard. Rayford then starts telling jokes, and soon they both start laughing and chatting and all that.

A little sappy to be sure but I like it because I feel that it shows the strong friendship they have. They don't forget the events going on outside, that's not the point, but it does show that Buck deeply cares for Ray and wants to cheer him up, even though it won't help Buck in any way.

That's not all I have, I have plenty more but this is a good stopping place for now. So, thoughts? Advice? Should I change anything I posted so far? Let me know!
