Malaysia has decided to send the Rohingya refugees from Myanmar that recently arrived off the coast of Langkawi home, eliciting criticism from the UN.

And hence the Malaysian government has decided to write the Myanmar government a strongly worded letter stating that they need to stop persecuting the Rohingya.

Well, this is ASEAN, we censured one of our own when Vietnam decided to overthrow the Khmer Rouge following territorial violations instead of trying to discern whether the horror stories revealed were true.

So much for Malaysia being a model member of the OIC as well. The politicians never fail to mention "Islamic Brotherhood" whenever the Arab-Israeli conflict flares up, but when some Muslim refugees show up on our doorstep we send them right back where they came from.

I didn't think my opinion of the Malay gov could sink any lower. Shame on them.

The Rohingya boat people crisis was started when the Thai authorities cracked down on human smuggling camps on the Thai-Malaysian border after discovering mass graves of smuggling victims. Now some camps have been discovered on the Malaysian side of the border as well, complete with mass graves.

Meanwhile, some monks in Myanmar are leading protests denouncing international criticism of how the country treats the Rohingyans.

This is not the official stance of the Malaysian government, nor that of its people, but... ugh. I'm the one commenting about how ASEAN integration probably isn't very good if a cartoon can ruin it.
