Do you think a good way to establish that a high-profile character in the story is so unpopular in the public eye that several works of fiction in-universe featured antagonists that are basically caricatures of that character?

Now I'm not saying that the unpopular character is evil or malicious, just very unliked by many people for whatever reasons.
