It's a great game. I think it deserves a trope page.

I just played it. It was quite special, writing a page on it should be interesting.

Has anyone here played this game? It's a horror/edutainment/adventure game based on the ancient Swedish practice of "year walking", wherein a person would travel into the woods during New Years' Eve in an attempt to get a glimpse of the future. Along the way they risked meeting all kinds of creatures from Swedish folklore, especially since the journey had to end at the local church.
There are two versions of the game, the original mobile version and the Steam version. The PC version adds a map and a hint menu in case you get stuck, but I'd recommend only using them if you absolutely need to. The mobile version comes with an app that explains the myths behind all the creatures you encounter and expands on the game's story, this app has been integrated into the menu of the PC version. The two versions also differ somewhat in their puzzles, with some that only work for touchscreens being replaced with ones that work better with a mouse and keyboard.
This game is really good, with a beautiful and chilling atmosphere, clever puzzles, and a lot of information on Swedish folklore. Each of the creatures you meet has its own appearance and its own way of creeping you out, which is helped by the beautiful art style. While the game has many horror elements it's nowhere near as scary as say Amnesia. I managed to get through it just fine despite being pretty squeamish. Be warned though that there are a couple of really good jump scares and that the game can make you really paranoid at times.
