I recently decided to write more elaborate and critical reviews on movies (or works from any I media I consume) and actually post it for others read. I think it would be an effective way to develop and improve my critical sight, something that is crucial for an English major like me. Not only that, it does sound pretty fun too.

But problem is, I don't know which sites or forum would suit best for that purpose. So far, Blogger and Word Press sound like good options. I would prefer ones that are free and have better traffic, or whatever are necessary options to smoothly run a review blog.

So, what are your recommendations?

(I'm not sure if this is really on-topic here, but...)

Both of those are good platforms for blogging. I know for a fact that Wordpress has options to integrate with other social media (so, you can set it to automatically post to your Facebook whenever you write a review, and Twitter, Tumblr, etc.), and I'm pretty sure that Blogger has the same capability. That probably an important ability in terms of getting people to look at your blog.

Wordpress is easy to use, and I'm sure the same is true of Blogger, and they're both free. Blogger offers slightly more capability for free, but with Wordpress has some potentially useful paid options (such as transferring your blog to your own server). They're both good services.

As for traffic, wordpress.com is the 23rd most visited site on the internet, while blogger.com is the 64th most visited website on the internet. But I'm not sure how that translates to people actually looking at blogs (and 23rd vs 64th isn't really that big a gap). Really, though, the thing you should concentrate on is getting people to look at your blog in particular — of the blogs I follow, some of them are on Blogger, some are on Wordpress, and some are self-hosted, and I don't generally notice which — though of course, doing so isn't exactly easy (there are dozens of books on the subject).

Anyway, good luck.

Letterboxd.com is a social networking site for film fans.

Aside from that, I'd say creating a wordpress or blogspot would be a good starting ground.
