Okay, basically, I'm making my own story, right, and I have some pretty good ideas. I have multiple different stories, actually, and they've all been in development for years by now, the plots and everything, they're all basically complete, I just haven't put it down on paper, why? Well, see, I really want to write and illustrate my own comic, I've just been spending time developing my art skills (I'm considered very good). However, I do know how to write in traditional novel form and have been testing the medium on fanfiction.net so, I wanted to know, do you think I should do what I've always wantee and make a comic, or write a novel and get it over with? Also, I have some other problems, first, ik just 16, so high school can get in the way, plus my family isn't exactly rich. On top of all that I'm a bit lazy. Any advice?

I'm in a very similar situation. I'm 16 too and I've thought about doing comics before, but I'm working on a few novels (most of them are in planning stages) right now. I'd suggest these tips:

  • Both projects will be time consuming. I'd say to make a short one-shot webcomic or try your hand at short stories or flash fiction first. So basically, start out small. I'd be overwhelming to do a large project at your first go.

  • Once school rolls around, manage your time so you can do your schoolwork and have ample time to work on your projects.

  • Write, draw or whatever everyday so you can improve.

  • Have several projects to work on. You can focus on a different story when you have inspiration for it- this is also helpful for when you're stuck on one idea (you can jump to another idea so you're still productive).

That's all I got for now.

[up] Thank you so much, this was really helpful, that's funny, my dad suggested the whole web comic thing too. And, the good thing is, I already have three stories with really developed plots to choose from.
