Does this already have a title somewhere? You have two characters. One has a love interest who isn't there because they're MIA for whatever reason (abduction, etc). The second character is instigating tons of sexual tension, then they're talking about the MIA love interest… And then they start making out instead?
Two examples:
Angel, S4 Episode 2 "Ground State": Angel and Gwen are discussing the axis to get back Cordelia, then Gwen asks if Angel loves her (he says yes), then they fight, then they make out… And Angel promptly says Cordelia's name when they break apart from their lip-lock.
X-Files, S2 Episode 7 "3": Mulder is wearing Scully's cross and generally not functioning well. He meets Kristen, who is connected to his current X-File, she notices the cross, says something along the lines of her loss affecting Mulder very deeply (he agrees), then… they have a one-night stand.
Is this a trope, and if so, does it have a name? Thanks.
