I. Need. To. See this.
Been waiting years for this movie. YEARS.
I'm so fucking excited for this. I need it. Unfortunately we won't get it for at least a couple of months though. :'(
Did you know that 90% of household dust is made from dead human skin? That's what you are to me.A cliche drama film, and people are sucking up to it cause it took 12 years to make? Oi.
and the Hype Backlash begins.
As for me, I loved the film. There were scenes that reminded me of my life when I was growing up.
It was entirely convincing, though not always that interesting.
The parental drama was nothing I haven't seen elsewhere, often done better, but Mason and his biological parents were very well wrought out.
I think it's the sort of film that makes the most impression for those of separate cultures. They see what childhood is like as a citizen of the Union of States. For myself, I had in many ways a different upbringing, but it still felt a little too familiar.
A blog that gets updated on a geological timescale.I just saw this movie. Man, was it an awesome experience.
Some (like Red Letter Media) may complain about it being "boring" with an "douchey main character", but that's not the point of it all. This isn't really a traditional story; rather a simple look at how one grows and changes over the course of their life. It's all about the moments in a person's life, and how they both define the person in question and those around them. Not to mention that, like films such as The Wind Rises and The Deer Hunter, the film chooses to focus more on the intimate aspects of the characters, which makes them feel more real than typical films.
So overall, this is probably one of my favorite films of the Summer (along with Edge Of Tomorrow and Guardians Of The Galaxy), and I sincerely hope that it wins the Oscar for Best Picture. It is indeed as good as the critics claim.
I wonder how it would go if they made movies in the same vein but portraying the experiences of very different Americans.
Stand Fast, Stand Strong, Stand TogetherAbsolutely agree with L Dragon 2. It's a movie that's written and created in a way that's unlike any other narrative drama, but of course that wouldn't be enough to make a film hold up on its own. It's a coming of age story with every beat left in, from the mundane to the brutal and tragic.
Very similar to an apparently dissimilar film from last year, Blue is the Warmest Color, in my opinion
http://onthetropes.podomatic.comWhat an amazing film. I wanna go see it again.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.
The set-up is fairly standard (divorced family plot) but the execution is anything but: it's been shot intermittently over the span of almost 12 years (from 2002 to 2013) with the same set of actors.
And while I'm sure it's bound to go down somewhat as some douche critic will eventually take this as a challenge, it currently has a whopping 99 out of 100 on Metacritic.
