Western in Space

I ain't looking for Space Western, New Old West, or Cattle Punk, although those are extremely similar to what I am looking at exactly.

Just think of a good ol' fashioned western. Now translate it into a science-fiction space roleplay. I want you guys to help come up with some stuff by thinking of some things associated with a western and try to fit it in with something similar to a sci-fi genre. So everything I say ought to be from a western.

It takes place in a lawless region of space. The Alliance does not have jurisdiction of this region, and so it is a haven for pirates, criminals, druglords, mercenaries, slavers, etc. And Bounty Hunters; you always gotta have Bounty Hunters.

Many of the planets are rich in resources (gold rush, anyone?) and so many people come here hoping to get rich, but end up getting into a lot of trouble.

Instead of Native Americans, you have the indigenous alien species on these planets, who often pose a threat to the settlers.

Instead of saloons, you have nightclubs and their surroundings (general stores become blackmarket shops, for example). A few of these settlements, however, may be owned, run, and inhabited by generally good folk.

I'd like to include 'railroads' some how. Perhaps a corrupt corporation planning to annex the sector to build it's own empire?

You should probably move this to the Sign-Ups; that's where you catch interest for prospective RP ideas.

Well I wouldn't host this anytime soon. I usually sit on ideas for months on end before finally acting on them. But my ideas ain't to great and I try to learn from other people.

Unless you meant just ask there anyway since it's more active.
