I'm sure Frye will squeeze out her third win eventually.... maybe.

I'm not super miffed about her losing since this is only the third time I've been on her team which explains my generally good winrate for Splatfests this game but still, woof do I understand why having three teams is so awkward.

Well, she'd better get on it. We have anywhere between four and eight more Splatfests left and her W/L isn't looking so hot. And even if she magically wins every single Splatfest from here to the end, that will still leave her with the single worst ratio of any idol in the entire series

Yeah, I've been feeling that the whole concept of three-way Splatfests is fundamentally flawed for a while now. They tried their hardest to make it work, but more and more it's becoming evident that it's just Shiver vs. Big Man with Frye pretending to be a viable threat somewhere in the distance

Team that shouldn't even be here won. Guarantee most people voted over idols or some stupid crap like FNAF instead of the theme...

The problem is always Tricolor. Even if Frye maintained Open, failing to win either Pro or Tricolor is an assured loss. But Tricolor is the most desirable category, but it's also the one with the least incentive. You don't get 333x Battles or 100x battles in Tricolor, so there was no personal reason to switch to the new category.

The old system actually makes more sense in both theory and practice. Tri-Color is a special event that happens alongside 100x or 333x Battles. The only players who go to Tri-Color are the ones who want to go on the attack and regain the lead. The leading defending team, on the other hand, cannot. They have to either play Open or Pro, and run the risk of being ambushed in Tricolor. But there is incentive to remain Open and Pro. You can get yourself a chance for 100x or 333x Battle. Meanwhile, the other players in other teams can go after the same 100x or 333x Battle, but without the fear of being ambushed.

Tricolor was an event and it's one that you don't Squid Party for. You have to learn to get gud at defense or be completely overwhelmed by the enemy teams. Now, Tricolor has become a chore because you have to deal with Mirror Matches... even if you are on the least popular team. Team Skeleton is proof of that.

Nah, most people do seem to generally vote with the theme as far as I can tell. Bears aren't exactly springy, sure, but the theme this time wasn't even phrased as a question and teddy bears are pretty cuddly... kinda reminds me of the cryptid Splatfest, where most people went with Nessie because it was the cutest/most fun option even if Team Alien is more objectively correct.

'sides, Buns had popularity by around 10% over Cubs. (45%-35%-20% or something close I think? Chicks were in last for that category... which also proves it isn't idols, given Shiver herself's more popular than the others.)

Oh, and fun fact: this means Big Man has actually won all three of the game's holiday-themed Splatfests. If he wins Final Fest he'll be 4 for 4 on special event ones in general.

One possible solution to this would be to give Tricolor 10x/100x/333x matches and to prevent it from having mirrors. But I think it's too late for them to make any scoring changes

Wouldn't have made a difference. It just meant chicks would have gotten last place

4x Team Bears had a much closer popularity percentage than I expected. Almost neck and neck. This nullifies the potential overwhelming popularity that Team Ghost had against the other teams because it means that the most persistent players of Team Bears can weather out the storm of Bunnies.

I prefer getting onto that float and dance with Big Man. That's the whole reason to stick around in Open or Pro and get all those couches.

So Big Man and Bear Cubs won? Fine by me, I'm just happy I played as Lil Bunnies. Especially since my pokesona is a Cinderace with some Lopunny ancestry, so it was only fitting.

And the sad thing is, when Frye loses it's "hahaha salty fryebabies XD XD!!", and in the alternate dimension where she wins,^note or during this fest's halftime, apparently, it's "God what a bunch of loser sweaty tryhards!" It's lose-lose no matter what

Honestly I'm surprised, I thought I would lose this one as every mach I was in was a loss with only one x10 and x100 win and a small amount of wins overall.

Also I'm probably skipping splatfest by this point as, outside of specials splatfest, they have become boring to me so I'm go to bow out because of that.

Why does Fyre keep losing these Splatfests?

One simple factor. And this has been consistent to all Splatfests. Frye hasn't won Tricolor at all except in Japan. When she won Tricolor in Japan, it was victory for her.

The only way to negate Tricolor is if ended up being the only category won by one team. Which happened to be Frye's Sweet Victory.

The problem is that many aren't willing to go through Tricolor because of Mirror Match hell. And persistent is key.

What luck! I pick Bear Cubs at the last minute just to get a few games under my belt, and they turn out to win!

I can't remember if I've ever picked wrong for Splatoon 3's Splatfests. My track record for this game is, at least, way better than it was the previous games.

Again, mirrors should be disabled during tricolor. It's no good as a Comeback Mechanic if you're stuck fighting your own team

The stage for Tricolors was good this time, at least.

None of the issues of the last one being incredibly lopsided in the Defender's favor. This one had a fun dynamic of the Defenders being stronger towards the beginning (if they knew what they were doing) and getting weaker once the water levels dropped.

I thought defenders couldn't encounter Tricolor in Pro when it used the old system.

Lololol killed by a griller on the last second of the first round, right as we just got the exact number of eggs needed.

I feel like that in the event that you wipe on a wave, but you meet the quota before time runs out, it should count as a win instead of a loss and respawn everyone, to avoid last-second wipes.
