So this Tricolor pretty clearly favours the attacking team.
My highlights this 'fest were taking the Ultra Signal twice in the first 40 seconds, and managing to comfortably win a match on defence even though we managed to lose the Ultra Signal twice.
I reckon this one will go to Team Keyboard.
Ukrainian Red CrossTop 10 reasons why Triple Splashdown should never have been added to the game
Maybe if it was a double splashdown
It’s range is just a little too big
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI loved how the September 2023 Splatfest/Big Run announcement started with the trio trying to sign off, but nothing happens and they wonder what's wrong with the equipment (with Big Man suggesting they unplug and not plug it back in). A little scary yeah, but Big Man made it better.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned. But the number three though. Get it because it's the third game in the series so everything has to be threeeeeee hee heeeeee
...I'd at least make the explosions on the fists smaller so it forms like, a Hidden Mickey. Would make it easier to escape the Instant Death Radius. Right now it just feels like a pyroclastic flow - if you can see it, you're already dead. You're supposed to be able to shoot the fists to negate its massive range, but it activates too quickly for anything to be on your mind other than Ging TFO of there
I’m going to change my locker and turn it into a snack pantry.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.I feel like a combination of any of the following would work:
- A lightly longer gap between activation and the actual splashdown
- Shorter range on the fists
- Fists do less damage
- If you splat the person activating the splashdown it also deactivates the fists so they don't get a revenge splat on you
- Increasing the number of fists, but reducing their damage to almost nothing so aside from the player's splatdown, the special is more of a hindrance/coverage weapon than a killer. (think a large scale version of the little poppers that go off after a torpedo lands)
Fists doing Burst Bomb damage seems fair I think. But they should definitely not do the same amount of damage as the explosion itself. They're not even as big as an inkling like what, why
You can tell I'm frustrated by how I didn't say "squib" just then
edit: Apparently the triple splashdown also doesn't count as a finished special until you land, meaning if you splat the person going up while they're using the special, they'll respawn with some special meter left over so they can just refill and do it again. This does not seem right, fair, or intentional

Yup. This especially gets bad with levels that are smaller, where a line in the sand is drawn basically right as the game starts and doesn't move for the whole match. Or for stages where the spawn position isn't adequately strong next to the position right outside the spawn (which is already precarious, given that some specials are practically tailor made to shut down spawns).
At least the current couple of stages are pretty good. Both Bluefin Depot and Robo ROM-en are neat stages with multiple fronts that can swing in multiple directions. And Bluefin's practically the perfect Bloblobber map, so of course I'm gonna love it.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Having played on Marlin Airport a bit, I feel like it's not a particularly great stage by Splatoon 2 standards (it still suffers a bit from Splatoon 3 "random boxes in the middle of a wide-open empty field are cover, right guys?" syndrome), but it's head and shoulders over most of the other new stages in Splatoon 3 because it's very large and wide open and has a bunch of alternate paths and actual height variation with the propellervators. Which is really nice to see, but at the same time it frustrates me. Why couldn't they all have been like this? Um'ami still hurts man

One day I’m going to buy every player hack in Side Order.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.Welp, now that I'm Keyboard Ruler I'm out. But it was a nice ride. A fairly uneventful Splatfest in general, though. I was only in two x# matches the entire weekend, both of them were just x10 matches, and I lost both of them.
Incidentally, does Nintendo sell the Splatoon soundtracks anywhere? They really should.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Yeah Triple Splash is quite annoying. I get that OG Splashdown was weak, but people need to understand sometimes that's a good thing.
I missed the part where that's my problem.Every special should be good. No special should define a meta

Won my first x100 battle!
you will seeeeee, that all the people are wonderful~Congrats!
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe fact that I pulled it off with the Undercover Brella (which I’ve been using since 2 when I sucked at Splatfests) makes me feel even better.
It’s coming full circle! :3
you will seeeeee, that all the people are wonderful~Nothing quite like hopping on, getting into a 10x for once, and immediately watching someone on your team DC right when you spawn in.
See, shit like this is why I largely sat this fest out.

It suits my confrontational play style well
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThink I'll call it here. I just had a solid pro mode victory and I want to end things on a good note

I had a pretty good time this Splatfest in spite of my 2:3 W/L by the end (ouch, was it really that bad?) Here's hoping all the multiplier victories Keyboard keeps scoring on the news leads to a sweep in our favor
I'm calling it a night here.
Final Stats: Keyboard Ruler 1

What surprised me most this fest was the lack of mirrors I got. Not a single one outside of Tricolor. Popularity could just be anyone's game.

Just played a Tricolor match where every single Team was Keyboard. Nice.
