I haven't seen Dexter. But I think that Rick is pretty obviously the most sympathetic of the three on account of being neither a serial murderer or a Meth Kingpin.
Rick Grimes has done some brutal things, but he lives in an apocalypse and hasn't done anything that wasn't necessary for his own survival.
And I have ZERO sympathy for Walter White. That manipulative asshole was one of the most vile human beings that I have ever seen. I have more sympathy for Joffrey then I do for Walt. I love Bryan Cranston and the show, but that character was such a bastard...
Grimes, from my understanding, isn't a sociopath.
I'd put Walter higher than Dexter, though, because he had the decency to die.
There was a rap battle some of you may be familiar with... and then I realized, just how opposed Grimes and White were, and then how amusing a battle between Heisenberg and Morgan would be, and then what the three of them share in common: the sheer ability to break shit, and then put it back together (or make it worse).
They all started in the same place. Things went bad for each of them.
They're each, in their own unique way, total Bad Ass'ses. Each of them gets a massive transformation: for White, this is the lung cancer which kicks off his series; for Rick, this is the end of the world, which sends him on a quest to reunite with his wife and son; for Dexter, this is the slow inclusion of others into his life and his desire to become more human.
Which character earned the most sympathy from you?
