I thought of fic I liked that has some of these, though, actually it's a fic series.
The Hyrulean Valhalla Saga

It is a Legend of Zelda fan fiction about various Links from different games "living" together in a special section of the afterlife for the gods' chosen heroes together.
The "From the Afterlife With Love" segments are very sweet. "Sky" (Link of Skyward Sword) built a shrine for Fi, since Fi had to stay behind with the Master Sword and could not follow him into Heaven. It became a sort of well-wish/prayer center for the various heroes to leave little letters of wishes for the heroes of times after their own who were alive and on their quests. The letters give glimpses such as the Hero of Time wanting the Hero of Winds to get all of his grandma's soup he could want (and to try to bring some to Heaven with him later if he could).
I also find the Hero of Time's relationship with the Hero of Twilight in this (and the more dramatic side-series to this universe the author did) very heartwarming. The Hero of Time continues to mentor the Hero of Twilight even though their quests are done - sometimes the treatment Time gives his protegee' is funny, sometimes harsh, and pretty much always like a loving mentor / best friend / big brother / almost ship-tease / almost father figure.

Continuing with the Lo Z theme. The story https://www.fanfiction.net/s/3105749/21/The-Weekly-Hyrule-News has an amazing moment near the end that doubles as a Moment of Awesome. At their school prom one character has less than 12 hours to live and knows it. And he spends it with his friends making the night the best it could be, capping it off with singing It's My Life.
Ummmm that's weird. Fitting to the thread but weird.
Anyway, since we ARE on the topic of Heartwarming AND Weird. I nominate this SO UNGODLY AWFUL ITS AMAZINGTASTIC Kung Fu Panda fic...
...No its not that Hanna Montana story. Its this really cute Tai Lung AND Po shipping fic. It was really sweet but REALLY CRINGEWORTHY badly written.
It all came to a head when its revealed Oogway loves the song "My Sweet Heart" From Tokyo Mew Mew. Yes, a JAPANESE SONG. In Ancient China. Rape of Nanking be damned. But it was really sweet.
