Those fucks are a bad head no matter where they are. I think the one (or two? I can't remember now) just a bit before the lantern at the lighthouse (?) might be the only enemy in the game where I eventually just decided to run past rather than deal with it.
Shaman bone blade, dear boy. Hard to setup, extremely satisfying to see pay off.
Also it's kinda crazy to think but you can ripostes those assholes.Saves your life a ton of times.
"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."Bone Blade doesn’t work if there’s nothing else around.
No i mean it's great for the well section. but that's where half of the whales are anyway.

"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."Hey, those odd urn things around the fishing hamlet? They're explosive. Guns, molotovs and fire weapons can set those off, but aiming at them can tough.
... Unless an enemy is right next to them, since a locked-on molotov has some nice area damage.
I think fire in general is effective against fishmen. Better than bolt even, surprisingly.
Fuck Laurence. Sideways. With a rusty spoon.
And fuck the Nightmare Executioner that hangs out outside his room. I have three times lost a huge cache of blood echoes because that thing decides it doesn't want to play fair.
Laurence really is surprisngly tough for being a Cleric Beast remix.
And I assume you mean ol' squid face is giving you a hard time? You might not expect it, but they are suspectible to backstabs and ripostes. Though the only way to get a backstab off mid combat in this game is using Augur, or have someone distract the enemy...

Just run past him. It'ss extremely effective when he's busy fighting the two npc hunters. After that you're free to backstab him once he loses aggro.
"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."I beat Laurence!
Not particularly proud of how I did it, but it is done.
I hated Laurence more then I hated Micolach, TBH.
You gotta start somewhere. And I got the Rakuyo. That was actually not as bad as I thought it would be.
So, how did you beat him then?
And Rakuyo is cool. I made mine Bolt. Some might say I wasted points into Skill, but I say I invested into aesthetic. Fashion is the true endgame after all.
I power-leveled in Bloodtinge for a couple days, and played fair until he was in his final stage, at which point I backed right off, used Bone Marrow Ash on my Hunter Pistol until I was out, switched to the Bowblade until I was out of Quicksilver Bullets, and then just chucked knives at him.
That does sound a bit tedious. (And the Evelyn would had been a better choice for pistol abuse. That or the Repeating Pistol. Or just use the Gatling or Cannon, maybe...)
Knives... Can't remember if Poison works on Laurence or not, but many bosses are of course immune to it.
I need to do a NG+ soon. I neglected to fight Laurence and never beat Orphan with my Bloodtinge character.
All I have left to do in The Old Hunters is beat the Orphan of Kos.
I have taken to exploring some of the chalice dungeons just to pick up some stuff I missed. I’m in Lower Hintertomb right now (first one I’ve encountered spiders; gross), because the Madman Set is the only available set I don’t have yet. I also need to get the Beast Claw from Ailing Loran before I’m done.
Chalices are completely unaffected by game cycles, btw. So any you still have active, stays active in NG+ and their difficulty does not scale with NG+ like normal areas.
Though doing chalices early nets you better gems than anything the main game throws your way at the point you are at.
Anyone got any tips for Orphan of Kos? I’m not doing too badly, but I could use that extra edge.
Pray.
Also it can be parried.
But mostly just pray.

But like...in the second phase? From all I’ve seen, his windows in the second phase are basically nonexistent. Also, I’m not great at partying. Backstabbing, I can do.
There really is no advice to give other than "keep dodging" and "hit the enemy to do damage." Orphan has no discernible patterns and frequently jumps out of the screen because it feels like it.
I guess one thing I can say is that it's better to stay near the entrance since Orphan's lightning call gradually spreads out.

If he opens the fight by doing the jumping attack, you can backstab him if you position yourself correctly so he crashes behind you. Saves a good chunk of health.
Other than that, stop backdashing and get dash on the sides to get in his back. Much easier to dodge, much more openings to exploit. If you can avoid the attack, you can instantly followup.

"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."Or someone smarter than me can help I guess.
Reminds me I still haven't refought him in my current playtrhough of the game. Should go back to that one soon.
"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."
Oh dear.
