From Software's Bloodborne

I made massive progress.

I decided to be a Strength/Skill build and I've been tearing through the game.

My main weapons are the Ludwig's Holy Blade and the Blade of Mercy (poor Eileen...) and right now I'm at Castle Cainhurst to get the Chikage to say I got it.

STR & DEX, or the community calls it "Quality" is a solid choice. Lots of weapon access to keep things from going stale and reliable damage with almost anything.

Ludwig blade for the win. I have so many weapons to use but I just can't sotop playing with this one.

Bloodborne comics announced. I feel skeptical after the comic/book release prelude of Dark Souls III. Hopefully, this is worth the shot.

So, playing the game again. Wanted to make an arcane/skill build to use the burial blade and blades of mercy. My main is heavily invested into skill/bloodtinge countering. Any advice? Currently at Father Gascan.

I'd be playing right now but I'm suffering some severe anxiety issues, don't need the game agitating me.

Also, according to that last link, those comics should be coming out soon.

Yeah, play something less stressful, Rotpar. The Soulsborne series... aren't the most relaxing or motivationally invigorating games to indulge, especially when feeling down about yourself.

So I finally got bloodborne and am fighting the Blood Starved Beast. I. WAS. SO. CLOSE.

Oh and I ended up killing the Gatling gun hunter. For future reference how do I befriend him?

You have to make your way up to him through a back route.

alternatively, running past him, killing BSB, going to the hunter dream, warping back to BSB's lamp and then climbing back up to the man apparently does work too.

Sadly, ARC & SKL isn't considered the greatest build. Burial Blade and Blades of Mercy have very low Arcane damage and get 90% of their output from the physical part, which makes them pretty much SKL weapons.

STR & ARC has weapon synergy with stuff like Holy Moonlight Sword, Wheel of Logarius, etc, while there are no weapons that combine SKL and ARC well. Putting Fire/Bolt/Arc gems into a SKL weapon converts the damage completely, leaving that SKL stat unused except for reqs.

Well, you would still have a benefit of having slightly higher damage with BB and BOM while gaining more Visceral Attack damage.

I did a playthrough with an ARC build that beefed their SKL to 20 just to use the Rakuyo for style. Convert it to Bolt damage as I kept my Threaded Cane to Fire and had lots of fun with my fashionable hunter.

I was thinking of using BOM, but to get any use out of them, I would have had to invest heavily in SKL, which would had taken a huge bite out of my ARC or HP, so I just stuck to a converted Rakuyo.

Yeah I did a SKI/ARC build for Blades of Mercy and it was not good. Basically just a handicapped SKI build.

STR/ARC and SKI/BLD is good though, but I could never get the hang of guns for anything other than parrying.

Ah, well I'll still give it a try anyway. My main is slogging through NG+ at the moment, there were only like three bosses I didn't kill. My STR/ARC alt is...Lorgaruis and I don't remember where. Rom maybe? I did manage to beat Ludwig with so much less effort than my main though.

Laurence is still giving me trouble and I beat the Orphan of Kos. I am by this point annoyed.

I would try to kill him today but I got shit sleep.

I died to the Celestial Emissary so I don't think I'm allowed to play video games anymore.

There isn't a single boss in Dark Souls 3 that I didn't die MULTIPLE times to. Well, save for Yhorm, but that was because I had the Siegward and his Stormruler sword on hand. Oh, and the Deacons of the Deep, but I still died once because I didn't understand how the petrification spell could be easily interrupted by attacking, and instead opted to run away.

EDIT: It's to the point that the only reason I ever managed to beat Dark Eater Midir was because I cheesed the hell outta him with the pestilient Mercury and ranged attacks.

I beat Ludwig so I'm gonna run on that high until Orphan curbstomps me.

Hope your ready for that gank fest ahead.

I'm not sure how much I like Orphan. The second half of the fight is just too chaotic. It's nigh impossible to get your bearings when the thing never stops bouncing around.

i was extremely surprised when i first tried him on ng ++. His second phase makes sense, but you have to be deep down in the tryhard to find it.

Jumping over head and throwing explosives does not make sense.

I'm quite surprised you got past maria at all. high pressure blood that ignites doesn't make more sense than that.

I meant from a boss fight mechanic standpoint. It's disorienting and random for a game like this. You need to be able to see your enemy so you can friggin' react to it.

Anyway I beat him. Didn't feel too good. Like a test I just managed finish in time.

oh, okay.

to be fair I feel the problem is more that the cameraman goes on strike everytime he bounces. Same problem than for logarius. If the camera actually bothered to follow him, it wouldn't be so problematic.

And that's Moon Presence.

It's a cool design but it's so unfitting as a final boss. Use the design for One Reborn or another Great One boss, don't make it the last challenge of the entire game. The Moon Presence should have been more majestic and alien than just being a gross monster.
