Daniel had been literally lying in wait, laying still on the floor of the truck with a pistol beside him. He kept his eyes closed, listening to the gunfire and feeling thankful that this was a simulation and no one was actually being killed. His plan was to keep pretending to be dead until someone from the opposing group came near. With a closer target and the element of surprise, he might have a better chance at hitting someone.

The plan came to fruition when a pair walked right by him. At point blank range, Daniel barely even needed to aim.

An unfamiliar voice called out "fire in the hole", and in the corner of his vision, he could see something hurtling in the direction of the truck. He scrambled away from where the projectile landed and hid behind a tree for cover.

A battle inside such tightly confined space was never going to last long, and in a matter of tense seconds all of the medics but two who had feigned being shot had either surrendered, lost their weapons, were lying in pain or unconscious. As were all the soldiers wearing green, and 4 out of 5 of the soldier's in black. Somehow, the kids had managed to avoid such a fate, their size and some hesitation on the soldier's part obviously aiding them.

At Longwei's bluff, the last soldier likewise jumped out of the truck in panic, and was met by automatic fire from an unseen force. He smashed into a tree and slumped down, unconscious. This tree was also the one Daniel was hiding behind.

Meanwhile, as soon as the soldier left the truck, one of the medics immediately stood up, guessing that the call was a clever trick. His ingenuity proved his downfall as, before he could jump out of the way, he was hit, in the face, with the fire extinguisher, and had been knocked out before he fell to the ground. His partner shot at the fire extinguisher, another mistake as it exploded in her face, as did the flashbang. Disoriented by the flashbang, and foam in her eyes, nose, mouth and ears, that particular medic wouldn't be shooting anything anytime soon.

This left only the children, and the mysterious force that had felled the last soldier still standing.

Charlie peered out of the tree she had ducked behind, clutching her rifle in her hands. The area around her was empty, no a single solider or medic in sight. Still holding onto her rifle, she tiptoed out, looking around her.

Mouse refused to leave cover, but gently poked her head from behind the jeep. Looked like they weren't finished yet.

Sophia had stayed in the van, using the door as cover and peeking out boto look for the others and to shoot at targets of opportunity. Now she cautiously poked her head around and called out, "Daniel? Mouse? Charlie? Are you alright?"

Whoops, that had to hurt Wei mentally chided himself for taking out two medics in his attempt to stop everyone from turning this into a clusterfuck. Well, he wasn't successful, but interesting things had happened.

Although none were in his favour. The situation had deviated from the original plan it wasn't even funny. Those chaps he had as teammates, well he didn't know who they were, but just like the others, they had been played for fools. And here he was, the last black clad "soldier", against the entire force of teenager would be spies and a rather unsettling unknown.

There were really few options. Raise hell and pray for the best, try to negotiate with the fellow youngsters and then gang up on the third force... or take a risky gamble.

As Sun Tzu said, all warfare is deception. He sighed inwardly as he let his gun drop to the ground, his arms raised to his head and he advanced into the open.

''Alright alright, you got me. I surrender." Wei interjected, loud enough to be heard by everyone. If the third force was an ally of the kids, he was done for. But he hoped he was neither, they weren't that straightforward. He hoped that they would come out in the open or attack him or the other kids, and that could change their opinion on him a little. A little enough to attempt to turn the course of the exercise.

There was considerably less gunfire now, making Daniel wonder if the simulation was nearing its end. He peeked out from behind his tree, and saw a black-clad sol— wait. No, he was way too short. Was this person a recruit just like them?

Still feeling wary, he slipped out of cover only to grab a spare pistol from the unconscious soldier nearby, before ducking behind another tree closer to the truck.

Mouse watched the lone black soldier step into the open. The little spy-to-be made her most menacing face through her tinted helmet; surrender or not, she wanted to burn this idiot. Still crouching behind the jeep, she prepared to throw a flash grenade at the man in black.

"Just try to sneak up on us, I dare ya!"

Charlie stood out in the open, looking around her with instead detail. She could see... Something. She had no idea what it was, but it was there. Her gaze fell upon a figure, walking around. Her fellow peers were all hidden under cover. Should I get under cover? I seem to be okay right now...

"Alright, alright, geeze." Wei muttered as he stopped. It was a good thing he was wearing a shadowed helmet when he was talked to, otherwise the others wouldn't see his eyes rolling. He stood still as he looked at the situation.

"Fairly hotheaded for a would-be spy, isn't she?" Wei muttered in comment to the taser girl. He then frowned.

Come on, I got you the perfect sucker bait. He said inwardly, thinking on his superiors, and the whole exercise. For being twisted O.C. you're rather -disappointing-. Shoot us all and call these kids suckers! They deserve it! He clenched his arm so slightly. Oh well, I'll have to work with what I have.

"Now what are you going to do with me I wonder... I don't think they sell dominatrix outfits in your size, girl..." He said, half relaxed as he concentrated his mind and his body in one. Quite possibly his martial prowess could be needed soon...

Charlie looked around, tying her midnight blue hair back with into a ponytail. "There's something here, I can faintly see it..." she said aloud, not really focusing on her current situation. "It's almost like a faint mist, and it's everywhere."

Mouse neither knew nor cared what a "dominomatrix" was—she just knew this idiot was mocking her. Ignoring Sophia's remark and her own better judgment, Mouse activated the flash grenade and threw it in the soldier's direction.

"Well, that is because I have the better intel..." Wei added, shrugging to the threat of knocking him unconscious. And probably for people like you that might prove harder than you think... He added mentally.

And then he registered the muffled sound of someone throwing something, as his peripheral vision caught a moving object in his direction.

Oh fuc-

Had he been a normal teenager, this would've been the end. But ten years under the strict discipline of Shaolin monks was anything but normal. Before he could put more thought on it his body was already moving, shooting an arm towards the object.

"HAH!" He grunted as he swatted the grenade that had been thrown towards him back to the source. At the same time, his mind started to conceive the whole situation. He was going to be attacked, and as such in a quick succession, Wei performed a sideflip with the intent of throwing its opponent aim, before allowing himself to drop flat on his back and scuttling away under the jeep by using his feet to kick and elbows to crawl.

Daniel darted from cover to cover, using the sound of the kid soldier's voice to determine which side of each tree to hide behind. His path took him behind the truck they came out of, with the intent of catching the boy from behind.

He spotted the black-clad soldier diving for cover under a black jeep. Cornered, he thought, as his zig-zagging path took him closer to the target. Daniel peeked out from behind the last tree, waiting for the kid to crawl back out. He couldn't stay down there forever.

Well, that's torn it, Sophia thought as she saw the young man dive under the jeep. She fired a couple of rounds in front of it at the point where he'd dived in hopes of either keeping him pinned or driving him out the other side the scrambled out of the van.

"Whoever threw that, please don't do that again!," she said in a loud but calm voice.

Sophia's request was answered by a child's scream. The flash grenade had landed far enough beyond Mouse's cover to give her a front row seat to its explosion. Although not permanently harmful, little Frisby could see nothing but a white light and hear only a high pitched ring. In the end though, she was more frightened than hurt.

A man, rather old, in his late middle-ages/early old age with grey hair predominantly making up his hair, along with flecks of black, but having a muscular figure that didn't seem to match with the man's wrinkles and features. He walked, his hands in the air, towards the children, clearly not wishing to harm them, and in green fatigues.

In a calming and friendly, yet quick voice, the man explained himself. "In case you were wondering, I'm the driver, so don't shoot. I stayed out of the battle, because what could an old man like me do to help, but nonetheless I found it despicable. Medics getting hurt, children in the crossfire, I personally find it despicable. Which is why I'm going to help you, because I don't like the idea of children, no matter how well-trained, getting hurt. And leave the poor lad under the jeep alone, we're not in the bloody Hungry Games or whatever you call it, you're all gonna be looking out for one another. So follow me, we'll take the jeep, and let's get out of here, to Julia. You aren't going to be ambushed anyway, and I want to have words with her."

Charlie looked around. "Hungry Games? What Hungry Games?" She walked slowly towards the driver, keeping her hands where they were visible.

"He means 'The Hunger Games'," Sophia said. To herself she thought If he's just a driver then the 'Twilight' series was a good read. Nonetheless she clicked the safety on her pistol and pointed it down. Looking around she said, "I think you guys can come out." Then she headed for where the flashbang had gone off to help whoever had been hit by it. By the shriek she thought it was Mouse.

"Mouse? It's me Sophia," she said in an uncharacteristically gentle voice. "It's okay, you can come out now I think."

Sophia's voice sounded muffled, as if Mouse had heard it underwater. Nevertheless she reached out her quivering hands towards her comrade—at least, where she thought her comrade was. The world was still blank.

"I don't wanna play this game anymore." she whimpered.

Daniel could feel himself wanting to cringe. It was all fun and games until a kid started crying, and a little girl seemed to be doing exactly that. Mouse, by the sound of it.

He put down all the weapons he was carrying, and walked toward the jeep. When he got there, he put one hand on his hip and extended the other toward the person still hiding under the vehicle. "Come on, it looks like we're done trying to shoot each other in the face."

Longwei sighed, as he shrugged and crawled out of the cover, taking the hand of the other child with a steely grip and raising to his feet. Not that he did not need the hand, but denying it could make people have sour faces. He scratched his head as he looked at the driver.

"I don't know what Julia is thinking... but I'll take my chances. My original plan was to spook you guys and mentalize that you might have to fight children back as opponents... China or Russia could have started their own programs as well." He paused. "But since things have gone to Diyu and high we might expect a chewing for this... name's Longwei Wong, I'm 16. Call me Wei." He added as he removed his helmet, revealing his features. "We'll be working together from now on."

He began walking to the driver. "Oi, shut it, old man. You're not fooling anyone, you don't get that build without making an effort to keep in shape. You can probably trounce all of us if you had half a mind." He paused.

"Is that girl okay to move around, <<Fire Hair>>?" He added, addressing Sophia.
