Didn't see a thread for Ping Pong, so here we go!

How is everyone enjoying it so far?

For a 72-year old dude Koizumi put up a pretty good fight. I'd really like to know what's up with Tsukimoto and that hero.

Developing up really well. That weird artstyle works for this.

Episode 4:

  • The dream has ended for Wenge. Kazama's pretty intimidating. Purple dragon thunder!
  • Peco got owned. But of course. Since Tsukimoto lost, he, too, was going to lose. Also, Peco needed that wake-up slap.
  • Kaio sweep.

Kazama is OP as fuck. And I hope that's not the last we see of Wenge.

Episode 5:

  • Wenge's staying in Japan. Will be seeing more of him, then.
  • Geez, Kazama's not holding back any punches. So blunt.
  • I did not recognize Peco at all. At. All. And it looks like he buried his table tennis hatchet.
  • Sakuma never had a prayer. Never. Kinda sad, though.
  • Same ending, different musical set.

Episode 6:

  • Wenge's really fitting in. And his mother came over for Christmas. It was a pretty sweet moment for him. Peco and Tsukimoto...theirs wasn't so stellar. And dangnammit, Kazama! Ping Pong's on your mind too much.
  • But over this period, Peco remembered something. Something very important. After almost drowning. In shallow waters! Someone's making a comeback.

Gotta say, that full ED's pretty nice. The newer version is better though.

Episode 8:

  • Only awesome folks fear not the slippery road.
  • So, Peco's the Hero. A shame that Wenge's out so early, though...

Episode 9:

  • The Hero will move onwards. To make Tsukimoto Smile again. Let's hope he doesn't lose his knee in the process
  • And it's Kazama! Can Peco actually beat him!?

Episode 10:

Kazama learns how to fly, the lost fun found, and he now accepts that heroes exist.

The match was solid. I say this is the best episode 10 of the season.

HERO KENZAN! HERO KENZAN! HERO KENZAN!

This episode was downright amazing, can't wait for the finale, I don't even know how that'll top this.

Last episode, for some reason I can't place a finger on, it was a little disappointing, but at the same time, exactly how it should've been. Too many flashbacks, but without them it wouldn't be quite the finale it was.

I suppose, as people who've lost to Peco in table tennis, and thus their way of life, Smile and Kazama became good friends. That's heartwarming to see, really. Likewise, Akuma having kids, Wenge getting back home, they all get good endings. Love that.

Episode 11:

  • Tsukimoto's right. A hero has no weak points. He came second, after all.tongue
  • Looks like Tsukimoto and Kazama are buddies nowadays. And birds stealing lunches is still a thing.tongue
  • Golden Endings for all.

All in all, a very edifying show.smile

I always love the Where Are They Now parts. Very happy for Kazama, Smile and Kong.

I'm surprised that there isn't a formal page on the manga/film and now tv series. I've seen the live action film adaptation, and the tv format allows for all of the major characters to shine (the film mainly concentrate on Peco and Smile). But for me, Ping Pong is the best of the bunch for Spring 2014 with Sidonia and Jojo coming in later.

I'd like to make one if I had the time, but I don't. I can probably contribute if there's at least a barebones page, though!
